My name is Laura and I live in California with my wonderfully supportive husband of 23 years and our two children (18 and 10). I am very involved in volunteering at the schools (mainly with PTA and tutoring), but look forward to cutting back on that as I begin to take care of myself. I enjoy traveling, road trips with my kids, reading (voraciously!), kayaking (want to do more!), walking, and visiting with my friends.

My Story

Although there have been events in my life that caused me to turn to food for comfort, I believe that I have dealt with those issues and put them behind me. So why did I continue to gain weight? Habit? Addiction to food? Lack of discipline? Probably a combination of all. Regardless, my approach to making this surgery be the tool I need it to be is to continue meeting with both my therapist and nutritionist, use the blog to record my food and my feelings, and be part of this wonderful, supportive environment!
