Welcome to My World
Hi, I am a 37 year old mother of 2 wonderful girls and a wife of 18 years. I have a full time job at a  hospital in Nashville and stay very busy with life. I am hoping to get the Lapband surgery to make my life more enjoyable and to prevent major health problems that I know are coming if I continue to stay this big.

Primary Care Doctors Appointment
on June 27, 2008 5:00 pm
Today , I went to my PCP for a couple of reasons and talked to him about having the LapBand procedure.  He has been following my weight loss effort while I have been on Weight Watchers and has also seen my weight start to climb back up. He said that he would support this surgery and that he thinks it is the best thing for me. He wrote me out a letter of support and handed it to me on the spot.  I am getting sooooo happy that things are starting to come together a little bit. I know I still have a ways to go to get insurance approval but things are starting to happen. Next week I am setting up my Psych appointment and getting that behind me then I'll have to wait for the Succeed Program to start in September.

Tina Calls for a progress report.
on June 25, 2008 10:52 am
Today , Tina (Baptist Metabolic Center) called to get an update from me and to see how I was doing. She has informed me that my insurance does pay for the surgery but has certain criteria and classes that I have to go to first. She told me that I have to call for myself to set up this class and to answer certain questions before they would schedule me. The next class does not start til September of this year but I need to call and set myself up ASAP. I'm starting to get very excited!!!!!

First Steps of the process.
on May 17, 2008 11:00 am
Today, I went to a seminar at the Baptist Metabolic Center and met Dr. Jamie McDowell and he really seems like a great guy. He was very nice and answered all of the questions that everyone asked. I am interested in the LapBand surgery . Tina took a copy of my insurance card (BCBS of TN) and is going to call Monday with results of that. I am very excited that I may be finally getting the help I need to lose this weight and have a better life.

My Story

I was never a big child growing up. My family never ate out at restaurants and my mother never bought junk food at the store. When I became a teenager and went to work at a fast food restaurant, that is when my weight problems began. I had my own money to do with as I pleased and I lived a fast pace life between school and my job, so I ate anything I wanted and started eating at all hours of the day and night. When I was 19 years old I married. I was in a size 18 at the time. I had my first child when I was 21 years old and haven't seen that size 18 since. I have tried several different diets and weight loss aids , even a few miracle cures. All of this always seemed to add weight instead of take it off. The last attempt, I had lost almost 50lbs on Weight Watchers but that didn't last very long. That is when I started looking into having surgery and finally getting the help I need.  I am hoping that this surgery will let me be even more active with my girls and maybe working will not kill my knees and feet sooo bad.
