3.5 months and 65 pounds later
on June 14, 2007 8:23 pm
I am down 65 pounds in 3.5 months. I am very satisfied with my process. I am so much healthier feeling. I have gone from a 24 to a size 16. I posted pics tonight that were taken today. I have slowed down to losing about a pound a week so I started working out this week. I hope I am speeding things up.

10 weeks down and 55 pounds
on May 8, 2007 4:25 pm
Well I went for my 3 month appointment a couple of weeks early today and I am down 55 pounds I was shocked. I was very happy with that considering I am not working out like i need to. I just can't seem to find the time. Then when I do finally sit down I am too tired. I told the dr today I knew it wasnt a good excuse but... I would try to do better. They were pleased with my loss. They asked how I felt and I said better than I have in years. It is amazing what a difference 55 pounds has made in my life. I used to take the stairs to my office one at a time and get both feet on one stair before tackling the next one because my knees ached so bad... well now I climb them like everyone else and I can climb them alot more a day than usual. Sometimes I just walk downstairs and walk across the bottom floor of the building and walk back up the other side just for the extra activity, I am definitely feeling tons better than I used to. I am losing my hair though and that is depressing. I thought going into this that it wouldnt happen to me but it is. Every time I brush it I have to clean the floor. My husband said he pulled a chihuahua out of the drain in the bathtub yesterday. I wonder if we can glue it back.. lol I told my dr I am using biiotin and they said I am doing all that I can and it will come back. I am going to have to trust them on this one. :-) Well I wanted to update my profile I need to have hubby take some pics sometime to show my loss but I have dreaded cameras so long I never think to ask him. :-) I hope everyone is doing well. 7 weeks have past
on April 14, 2007 10:17 am
Well I have made it seven weeks post op. I have had one stricture and virtually no other problems. I am doing great. I have lost 41.5 pounds and am losing about 2 pounds a week. I would like faster results but I havent started working out yet. I know it is the key. I need to get started. It just seems there isn't enough time. I am very happy with my results I have gone from a 3 x or 24 to a Xlarge tops and 14 16 tops or 18 pants. I think that is amazing in itself. I feel good and I have tons more energy. I just wanted to update everyone on what is happening with me. I hope everyone else is doing well. Lesa

31 days, 33 pounds and a stricture later.....
on March 22, 2007 5:54 pm
I would still do it again. :-) I went in today and sure enough I had a stricture. I couldn't keep anything down for the last several days. It started with meds last week and finally last night I threw up broth so I went in today and Dr. Weiss made me all better again. I feel good and for anyone thinking you may have a stricture it is no big deal. Just go in and have it taken care of. I had gotten to where it was taking me a couple hours to get a protein shake down.. Well I didn't know that wasn't normal. I drank one tonight in 30 minutes. Wow what a difference. I don't feel like I swallowed a golf ball every time I take a pill or drink something. Just wanted to touch base and let everyone know I am still kicking. :-) As a matter of fact I am kicking Much higher these days than I used to. :-) Lesa

13 days postop
on March 6, 2007 5:57 am
I am 13 days postop and went for my follow up yesterday. I was thrilled to learn that I have lost a total of 19.5 pounds since my first visit with Dr. Weiss. I am well on my way to losing that 122 pounds that I want to lose. :-) I am going to join the gym today so I will workout more. It is hard to walk when it is so darn cold outside. I am doing fantastic I havent had any trouble with nausea except for one day. I havent dumped because I am avoiding things that I think will cause that. I am tryin g to follow Dr Weiss's instructions to a T because I have a lot invested in this. I want to succeed. I read about people doing things that i feel sabotage their surgery and I don't really understand that. I do miss chewing. I have been on liquids the whole time and will be for a couple more weeks I think. I get to add things but nothing real substantial. I can wait I have eaten what I wanted and not what was good for me for my whole life. Its time for change. I am an ice cream addict is why I chose RNY and you would be shocked at how much you can make protein drinks taste like a real shake. :-) Here I thought I could never eat it again. :-) Well thanks for dropping in to check on me and thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate them and appreciate your consideration. Lesa

My Story

Well where do I start? My name is Lesa Duncan and I am 47 years old. I have been overweight since I was about 17 when I got married to the man I love. We have been married for 30 years and he has stuck with mje through thick and thin you might say. I have fought this weight all of my life it seems, I have done tops, Weight Watchers more times than I care to think about, Jenny Craig, and many more. I have many weight related illnesses and the thing that made me decide on weight loss surgery happened last year. I had lost 90 pounds at Weight Watchers in 2000 and had kept gaining it back a little at a time. Well last year I had reached back up to my highest weight of 290 and I joined Jenny Craig. I did well and lost 35 pounds in 5 months, I walked 3 miles per day and was doing well. Suddenly my knee started to hurt and I went to an orthapedic surgeon when it kept getting worse and worse. The surgeon xrayed it and decided I had a stress fracture. I had fractured my knee somehow, I coujld no longer walk or work out,. I started to regain immediately I got depressed once again and slowly creeped up to 290 once again. I lay in bed last april and decided that I had no other choice but to do something about this once and for all. I decided that night to have weight loss surgery. I asked my husband the next day what he thought and he said he would support me with whatever I decided to do. I started the process with Bluegrass Bariatrics in Georgetown immediately. I now have a date for surgery for February 5, 2007. It has been a long 7 months coming and I am feeling so many things, Anxiousness to have this all behind me and be on the healing side is of utmost desire.
