Peter Frederick Crookes M.D., F.R.C.S., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Crookes is an amazing surgeon! Love the Irish accent! When I first met him, we spent a long time together going over each of the surgeries he does (he does them all) and he explained the pro's and con's of each. Every question I asked was answered honestly. The decision was mine as to which surgery I could live with for the rest of my life. I chose the duodenal switch and he agreed that it was a good choice for me. During my hospital stay he visited me every day and literally held my hand and made sure I was pain free and doing well. During follow-up visits, he still took the time to answer all my questions. I've never felt rushed when speaking to him. He is a wonderful man and an excellent surgeon. I would very highly recommend him!

Just A Quick Update (updated!)
I went to see my doctor on Monday and he started the process for a referral for a hematologist. (darm HMO's!) The referral was there at the drs office, but they didn't call me as promised. grrrr.... Anyway, I got the number of the hematologist from them and called. They need to get my labs faxed to them and they will call me back and to make an appointment after they get the lab reports....soon, I hope!!

Oh, just realized that my doctors office was closing and they were out the door when I called! I'm picking up my referral in the morning and I'm sure the hematologist won't get the labs faxed to them until the morning either!! grrrr.....!

Also, my plastic surgeon called me up to check on me and see if I was doing OK and not too bummed. He's so cool!

EDITED TO ADD:
I just talked ot the hematologists office. Their first available appointment is AUGUST 1st!!

ugh... Then I called up the plastic surgeons office to talk to him. He was in surgery, but his assistant told me that they're working on rescheduling me and it's probably going to be in MID-SEPTEMBER!!!! CRAP! This sucks!!! I left a voice mail with the PS. Maybe if he calls and talks to the hematologist I can get squeezed in sooner??! Hope so. My fingers are crossed!!!
