Surgeon Testimonial

Jayar Salimath
I LOVE MY SURGEON! He & his staff are wonderful. I felt 100% comfortable with him from the minute I met him. He really cares about his patients and wants them to have success. He has a very structured plan for you to follow for preop & postop so you can be successful. After surgery you have a 2 wk, 2 month, 6 month & 1 year visit and he runs labs with every visit to make sure there are no defencies.rnrnI would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking in the Peoria area for surgery. I am so glad I chose him over my other choice and feel that I was lucky & fortunate to have the surgery I had.

Just wanting you to know that I'm thinking of you. Hope that everything goes good. Be sure to sip, walk and rest. Keep the heating pad close with your liquids. You will be on the bench today. YEA for you. Skye

5 months post op
on March 9, 2009 8:13 pm
Wow - I haven't been on here forever.

My update is at 5 months I am 70lbs lighter! I was so happy to get under the 300lb mark!!!!! Food, protein & eating I still struggle with. I have to track to make sure I am getting my protein in. When eating out I very rarely order my own food and if I do it's an ala carte item. I had to have surgery on my knee and this put me back a little on being able to exercise. I hope my surgeon is happy with my WL when I see him at 6 months post op.

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions about myself or my surgeon!

Almost been 2 months....
on December 1, 2008 8:24 pm
I have been kinda MIA lately. Sorry! Well let's see if I can think of what all have been going on. In 6 days I will be 2 months out and I will come back & post my loss. My WL has really slowed though. I had a stall forever. Now it seems like I am only losing less than 2 lbs a week if that. I am not exercising as I have been having problems with my knee which I will be having an MRI this week to see if there is any damage or if it's just weight related. But so far my WL is close to 45lbs. That is 2 week liquid diet to last weeks WI.

Life has been proving to be difficult for me. I got laid off for the first time in my entire life. So it's sucky now so close to Christmas & trying to figure out how to pay our bills this month.  I am feeling a little blue about it all. I am gonna get myself back to the Y to do something that will make myself feel good about myself again. Hope this works. I guess if I can't work then I will just spend my time exercising. It kinda is a good thing if only I was getting paid too! LOL

So that is my update! Lots of thoughts & prayers that things will get better for my company & I will be back to work soon!!!

1 month post op
on November 7, 2008 7:19 am

Today is my 1 month surgiversary. I have been in a stall for the last couple weeks but it seems over the last couple days the scale has finally got moving again.

I feel great! I have been adding a little exercise back in, not as much as I would like. I have an appt Monday with the dr about my knee. I have more energy. I have been able to handle most all foods I have tried to eat. I have only gotten sick a few times & it was because I ate too fast.

Now for the good news! I took all my measurements, pics & weight the day before I started my liquid diet. By my scale and my measurments I took I have lost 35.2 lbs and shed 35.5 inches off my body. I think this is totally amazing but I always wish for more but it will come. Had I not had the stall I keep thinking to myself.....jeesh what could I have lost. But I have to remember that it's a slow process and it will all come off. I am in no race with anyone else and my body will shed the lbs as it sees fit.

Lots of updates!
on October 23, 2008 6:17 am
Well I just realized that I haven't updated my blog forever. I had my surgery on Oct 7th. I did wonderful. I had very little pain and was out of the hospital that Thursday. It has been interesting trying to learn how to eat again. I love my sleeve & loss so far!

2 week post op dr visit-

All went well. They are happy with my weight loss so far. By their scale I was down 21 lbs and by mine it's 32 but that is because I was 3 days into liquid diet before I saw them for my preop. They say I am doing great. My incisions look great.....they say. I have one ugly one where my drain was but they said it will get better very soon. I can't go back to water aerobics until after I see him 2 months post op....so 6 more weeks out because he wants to amke sure the incision sights are healed. My next appt is Dec 10th. I took my camera to get a pic with him for my scrapbook of my WLS journey too. He was happy to oblidge. He is just such a nice dr and I am so happy that I was fortunate enough to do this in my life with him & his staff. They are all wonderful.
So they are happy & I am happy and I now get to move to eating real foods again. I have to ease into eating before I go headfirst. So I move to Phase III and in 2 weeks I can move to phase IV. They said my color looked great & I looked awesome.   So that is the update! Thank you for your continued support!!

My Story

I have been big all my life. I have come to the realization that after many years of yo yo dieting that no matter how much I can lost by starving myself or going from one diet plan to another that I probably will never get myself to a healthy weight without an intervention. So I am looking seriously into bariatric surgery.

I have done my research & feel that the VSG may be my best option. Time will tell.
