Surgeon Testimonial

Fernando Otero, M.D., F.A.C.S
My surgeon is actually Dr. Chin in Concord, CA, but he's new and wasn't listed. Dr. Otero is his partner.

He's fairly new at the John Muir Weight Loss Center in Concord, CA. I met with him today, and was very impressed with him. He was extremely understanding, answered all of my questions very patiently, and was very positive about it all. Very soft spoken.

I really have a great feeling about him and am looking forward to my new journey!!

Hi, I'm Tasha.  I'm a 35 y/o happily married working mother of one son, Alex - age 3.

I'm a Type 2 diabetic and my blood sugars have been out of control for a while and my weight gain just will not stop.  I'm on Glucophage, Actos, Glipizide, even tried Byetta.... now I'm on 15 units of long acting insulin every night.  Insulin only contributes to the problem, it makes me gain even more weight!  I'm fairly active, eat well, etc.

So, my endocronologist and I have been talking quite a bit about the success of Gastric Bypass surgery and Type 2 Diabetes.  I finally agreed to do it - and am very much looking forward to it!!

I have gone through the psychiatric evaluation and went through a long orientation, and am now scheduled for my upper Endoscopy next Tuesday.  I am hoping to have a surgery date of July 31, 2008 or August 4, 2008.

Looking for support and to make new friends!

The Upper Endoscopy is DONE...
on July 9, 2008 9:28 am
I think I was dreading this the most!  I had my Upper Endoscopy done yesterday.  Wasn't too bad, but I'm kind of sore today - wondering how normal that is.  They took three biopsies.  I kind of remember the procedure, they were having a hard time sedating me, so it's all kind of "blurry", but remember some of it.

Anyways..... that was the last of my tests.  Now on to my Pre-Op appointment on the 22nd and my surgery on the 31st!  I am so excited!!!  Starting to try different protien drinks and bars to see which ones I like... any suggestions?

Met with the Surgeon - I HAVE A DATE!
on July 1, 2008 8:20 pm
Met with Dr. Chin today and was so impressed with him.  He was so calming, very thorough, understanding, etc... haven't heard a lot about him as he is new, but I am very confident, he seems like a fantastic Doc!

My surgery date is 7/31/08 and I am beyond excited.  Nervous, of course, but excited and ready for all the positive changes that will occur.
