The Worst Thing...
on February 18, 2007 7:43 am
Overall I am doing pretty well. Still some discomfort on the left side - getting the staples removed Tuesday. Hopefully that will help. I graduated to the pureed foods stage yesterday and it was a welcome improvemnet. But, I still love my Cream of Wheat in the morning.  Last night for dinner I had some baked salmon blended together with some veggies. Looked like baby food but tasted good. And to top it all off - salmon is so high in protein! Yipee!

But I have to tell you - the worst thing is the cravings. I don't feel hungry at all but I do miss the taste of certain foods. Sometimes it drives me batty. So, when I get those urges, I go brush my teeth. Ok, I know it sounds strange but it works. And my dental hygienist will be so happy with me next time I see her. LOL.

Have I mentioned how yummy the Tropical Fruit flavoured SF Popsicles are? The best! Bye for now!

Home from the hospital...
on February 13, 2007 12:17 pm
I am gald to be home - was released yesterday. I was in so much pain after the surgery - I wish someone would have told me it would hurt this bad. I was regretting doing the surgery for two days. I am feeling a little better every day and on full liquids now. The Sugar Free Popsicles are the BEST! I bought the tropical fruit flavors and am in love! I am walking and getting my liquids down okay. Looking forwad to feeling even better tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the big day!
on February 6, 2007 5:25 am

I still have some running around to do today and some cleaning to get done too. I have to be at the hospital at 8am tomorrow. I am a little nervous and had a hard time getting to sleep last night. I don't know what tonight will bring me.

I am lucky to have supporters around me. And it's rather funny - the people I thought would be the biggest supporters are the ones that are totally against it and talking behind my back.  I am lucky though because my husband and son are my biggest cheerleaders - and I have some friends that are doing the same too.  Well, I think this is too big of a fight to let the opposers bring me done. I must surround myself with positive reinforcement.

Couple more days...
on February 3, 2007 2:17 pm
In just a couple more days I will be a changed woman. I still have a couple of things to pick up at the grocery - but I have the important stuff - vitamins and protein powder. A couple of nights ago we went out for yet another 'last supper' - I had Prime Rib and it was fabulous. I think I'm done with 'last suppers' - I can't think of anything else that I want to have. Thankfully!

There are a couple other folks having their surgeries this week too and I want to wish them well!

15 days till Surgery!
on January 22, 2007 5:29 pm
I went to the hospital today for pre-op testing. I had an Upper GI done and that was so nasty! I managed to get through it okay though. I am beginning to start shopping for the things I'll need the first couple of weeks...Crystal Light, Sugar Free Popsicles, etc... I need to buy some protein powder.

The past few days I have had the "last supper" mentality. I know I shouldn't...but I have. I am just going to assume that I will be a dumper so I have been eating some of my favorite sweets that I won't eat again after the surgery. After the surgery, I don't want to revert back to old habits - that would just defeat the purpose.

Anyway....15 more days to a new me!
