Surgeon Testimonial

Kristoffel Dumon, M.D.
Kris is the only bariatric surgeon at the University of Penn hospital that my insurance allows to do the surgery. Which is fine by me, I really liked Kris! He explained everything and answered all my questions. rnMy sister is a nurse is the PAC-U at the University of Penn hospital, so he sees her often. And everytime he does I get a phone call that he is asking about me. He remembers me! He wants to know what I am doing and what else I have left to do to get this surgery done. I don't know any other doctor let alone surgeon who would do that. I feel safe in his hands.

its gonna be tough....

I finally asked my brother what he thought about me getting surgery. We are pretty close, so knowing what he thinks is important, even if I don't like it. He said he hasn't decided yet, but hes worried about what will happen after. Will I go back to eating like I do now? I showed him some of the before and after pictures of people, and said I wanted that to be me! This is why I want to get surgery, look at these men and women, they have shed people off their body not just weight. I want to look like this, I want to feel the way these men and women do in their after picture when their smile lights up the photo.....

I have never been an emotional eater. I usually eat mindlessly in a social setting or if I am bored.  I am in grad school and work full time, so right now I don't have too much time to be bored, but I  eat on the run and that usually means eating CRAP!!! At work I definitely eat when I am bored, and my coworkers definitely help to fuel my awful habit. Whether someone is bringing in donuts, bagels, coffee rolls, soft pretzels, etc food is ALWAYS available. yeah yeah yeah, I know. Don't get up and get the food, But it sits on the other side of my desk, and everyone is around the food socializing. How do you not get up and grab even half a pretzel. will power I guess? I have to work on that!!!

My thought is that if I am truely not hungry and can't fit anything else in my stomach I won't eat it because I won't want to throw up or feel sick. Am I correct? I know I have to work on the Will Power! BUt i think WLS will definitely help with this? Any suggestions? Am i doomed to go back to what I am not after the surgery?

'Keep looking up', Mama used to tell me. 'There's nothing on the ground but your feet.'
