Surgeon Testimonial

Michael A. Schweitzer M.D.
I met with Dr S and I have nothing but good things to say about the doctor and his staff. They were all very nice. Dr, S struck me as being the most experienced in his field, and I trust him fully. His secretary Debbie is wonderful to deal with, and I am looking forward to the day when I am free of this weight.

I had a very small problem and I commend my doctor and his staff for prompt attention and the care they gave to me. I am so glad I selected Dr Schweitzer for my doc, I think he is the greatest.

You have proceeded to go and can collect all of the benefits. In this case losing is winning. I would hate to read this out loud. It is confusing to write. But after surgery when you can read, and understand it you will know you don't need pain killers any more. Keep us posted, I am about a week behind you.

It's now 15 months

now it's 15 months since my surgery and my how time does fly.  I will never forget all the support I received from our online support group. Everyone was such an inspiration.  After my surgery I wondered if I had done the right thing.  I sure did the right thing, I feel better today than I have in 20 years.  My health is about 500% better and I look and feel thin.  My total weight loss is 95 pounds and I lost 97% of my excess weight.  PC doc said enough already and I have been the same weight for over 3 months.  I'm very happy and I would do it all again.  If you are thinking about the surgery, do your research and make an informed decision.  I did and I'm only sorrry I waited so long to go for it.

one year ago

It's been one year and how things have changed for me.  I no longer have diabetes or high blood pressure or high cholesterol or sleep apnea or arthritis or all the other things related to my weight.  This has been the best thing to happen to me in my life.  I would do it all over again.  I started at 221 and I know that doesn't sound too very bad, but I am only 5-1 and I had many many medical problems.  Like everyone, I tried diet after diet and they just didn't work for me.  In one year I've lost 92 pounds and I'm at my goal. I feel better today then I can ever remember feeling.   If you have any questions or problems I will always be glad to help you, just drop me a e mail.  It's not always an easy journey, but it has been so worth it for me.

6 months gone by

Time goes so fast!  I am just over the 6 month mark and I am down 80 pounds, 10 more to go!!  I can wear a size 8, but I feel like I'm dreaming sometimes.  Eating is still a struggle,I still eat too fast.  Teaching an old dog new tricks is tough!   To anyone reading this and thinking about having the surgery, my advice is go for it.  Your health is your most important asset in life, protect it and extend your life and the quality of your life that WLS will give you.

sorry I haven't posted in a long time.  Time flies when you are being amazed.  It's four months and I found out today that I have lost 60 pounds.,  I still feel like I am dreaming.  The journey was not easy, and every day I think long and hard about what I am eating.  I am still having a little trouble eating, I need to slow down and chew more.  I have been taking all the vitamins and doing everything by the book.  To those who have had the surgery or those thinking about it, it is a life changing process.  I am glad I did it and I hope I never go back to needing insulin and 6 other meds for all my tweight related problems.
I have met such wonderful people along the way and I want them all to know how much I appreciate all the support.  If I can help just one person, I will feel that I gave something back.  Feel free to contact me anytime.

3 weeks out and 25 pounds
on December 5, 2006 11:36 am
Well, it's 3 weeks out and I am down 25 pounds.  That is great, but it's not easy.  I spend all day eating, drinking and taking vitamins.  I have been sick a few times, I need to chew more and eat slower.  Drinking all the fluids in a day is very hard, and I am still tired.  I don't regret having the surgery, but it sure was harder than I ever imagined.
I've heard that it gets better every day, and it's true some days.  I'm off the insulin and now the blood pressure meds too!

My Story

I'm almost here, Nov 9 is coming so fast.  I remember when I first got my surgery date in August, I thought  November would never get here, well, now it's here.  Before scheduling my consult with Dr Schweitzer, I did so much research and I read every post I could, and I knew the surgery was right for me.  The journey has been long, but I have met the most wonderful people here, and I hope that after our surgeries, we continue to post to check on each other.
