Surgeon Testimonial

Robert Korn
Very understanding of obesity and doesn't want any patient to have any unnecessary tests. He spent quite a bit of time with my on my initial consult and helps to set realistic expectations. He definatley is a believer in his bariatric patients getting a gym membership. He has a great bed-side manner and seems to genuinely care for his patient's well being.

So Excited to Get Rid Of Pre-Chewed-Like Food!!!
on June 9, 2008 8:41 pm
Finally!  After taking care of myself and getting plenty of liquids this past week, the doctor moved me onto soft foods. Talk about being excited!  I was nervous about eating, but then it's like riding a bike!! I savored every little pea-sized morsal and could identify some of the ingredients. I also found myself closing my eyes on occassion just to appreciate real food again!  NO MORE PRE-CHEWED FOOD!!!

Wow! Total Bummer Appointment Today
on June 2, 2008 7:32 pm
I was so excited to see if the doctor would progress me to soft foods, but instead, I was regressed back to liquids/purees. I have not been drinking enough liquids and so the doctor sent me over to the hospital to get 3 units of IV fluid. OMG!  I was devistated!  I honestly did not realize how important it was to keep track of my fluid intake until today.

It was a hard lesson to learn, and I hope that I don't make that mistake ever again.

Okay, time to move forward and change my patterns.

Finally Transitioned to Mushies
on May 17, 2008 12:54 pm
I finally tried some mushies on Thursday night. I had some mushy crackers in my tomato soup and it was wonderful! I have to try to be creative before I get sick of my devilled ham and refried beans with cheese and guac.

Thank goodness that my tummy FINALLY settled down. I still can't stomach the lunch that my coworker brings in. I don't know what the hell his wife make for leftovers, but it smells gross! The first two weeks were horrible with the constant nausia. I am feeling so much better. Just still some incision pain.

I'm going to try to make the right food choices. But for right now, I'm going to eat whatever I can just to get some nutrition inside of me. I'm feeling BETTER, but not all the way to having an appetite. So I'm just not going to worry about whether or not my food choice is low-fat, high protein, blah, blah, blah because I have to at least get something in my tummy!

Son of a Nuckle's Butt! I Can't Figure Out My Tummy!
on May 6, 2008 8:18 pm
I am 5 days out of surgery and I still feel nausious. I can't figure out what my tummy wants. If I sit for a while and then stand up, I feel pressure in my upper part of my stomach. I might be eating too think of soup, even though it's runny. I can't hardly gag down my protein shakes any more. They are grossing me out. I don't know if I have gas, or I'm hungry. I can't tell if I'm hungry or full.

I have my first post-op appointment with the surgeon and hopefully he'll tell me that "this is nornal".

I DID IT!!!
on May 1, 2008 10:28 pm
I had my surgery this morning and everything went really well. Loved the doctor, loved the nurses, and loved the rest of the staff. I'm so excited to start this new journey and to have my family behind me in all of this.

Update: May 3rd: Wow!  Still pretty sore around the larger incision and still working through the gas issues.  Bless my husband for being so good to me and supportive. He's 1 in a million!
