Surgeon Testimonial

Lyudmila S. Pupkova M.D.
I had Doctor Pupkova and I couldn't have asked for better care and the staff at the Barix was wonderful. Would I recommend them? You bet your sweet bippy I would! Dr P was warm and caring and she listens to what you have to say and gives hugs. I can't say enough good things about her.

Everyone has a mantra and mine is "YA GOTTA BELIEVE" I know Tug McGraw said this and I so believe it. I was tired of being out of breath when I walked and did things. Tired of paying extra for plus sizes. Tired of being limited in so many ways. Even tired of it being a big production to get on my horse with the thought of "oh well, once I'm on him I am ok" and not being able to gallop on him worrying that I'm going to bounce off into the wild blue yonder. Its not easy and ya gotta believe.

My Story

Hi everyone. I made the choice to have this surgery about two years ago and its been a bumpy road in the beginning. When I went to the cardio after several tests I had 80% blockage in my heart. Well life as I knew it changed and I had to get 3 stents in my heart. It was at least 8 months before my cardio cleared me for gastric. Then when I went for my PTA  I was diagnosed with sleep apnea so it was back to the starting gate again. I had to get the cpap machine and then logged 200 hours.  Then yipee!!! I got a surgery date of July 7th, 2008 and never looked back.  I am a very lucky girl to have survived all of this. I am much more active, alert, aware and energetic. My depression seems to be a thing of the past. I am able to ride my horse who all of you by now have seen a picture of much more often and comfortably. I have met alot of great people at the Barixs and on this site and I simply can't thank everyone enough for their support and understanding. My only regret is that I wasn't able to do this sooner. I had a great support system with Susan Burkett who patiently answered all of my questions with a wonderful sense of humor and she saw I was scared as heck but desperately wanted to do this and for both her and Dennis Belk who was there the second night after surgery. It was rough and I wondered what I had gotten myself into and they saw me at my worst and swore to me that it gets better. It does.  Thanks Susan and Dennis I will forever be grateful to you both.  Life is good. I am very grateful for the people I have met thru this. And I have "met" alot of wonderful people on OH who give me support when I need it and put me in my place when warranted. I also want to mention that I take great pleasure of riding Cassidy and being able to throw my arms around his neck and hugging him and being grateful for having him.  I know it sounds crazy but that horse is the love of my heart.  He's just like me, a mind of his own and grateful to be here.
