So I had my first appointment with Dr Alana Chock. Fist of all she is gorgeous, just saying.... lol ... but I immedialty felt at ease with her and she told me everything good , bad and ugly about the surgery I did refer to her as doom and gloom, but appreciated her candor and telling me things I needed to know. Now take it I had already been working with another surgeon that was suppose to do my surgery but didnt have the "Blis" insurance in place for self pays so I had to at the last minute move over to her. She told me more in one visit than I got 8 months out of the other place. I also was totally convinced that I would do the gastric bypass which was recommended by my other doctor, and that was the only surgery that would work for me but after talking to her we decided that the Sleeve would work just as well and I wouldn't have to take all of the other unnecessary risks since I was a self pay ( my insurance doesn't cover bariatric )
Her staff is awesome and very knowleable and call you back right away. I love this place.
Thanks Dr Chock see you in operating room 9-6-12

Well its July 30 2012 and I am writing my story in hopes i can look back at this after surgery and see where I was ...... I have been heavy pretty much all my life on and off diets. I think everything changed once I had a child I gained 60 lbs and that began my roller coster ride with yo yo dieting. I would loose 50 lbs only to gain it back. Even though with all this weight problems I always considered myself to be pretty healthy person untill this last year. out of the blue I got arthritis..... my knee swole up that I couldnt even walk. it was very scary at first but finally a year later I have it under control wth medication. eventually I will have to have a kneee replacemetn. with this knee problem it really limited my mobility for the first itme and I felt my wieght was a serious issue. I couldnt get around like i wanted to and even started to get scared that I may end up in a wheel chair lke one of my siblings who has let her wieght issue control her life. I refuse to be that person and I am taking an active step toward my goal . at my heaviest I was 338 , my 1 goal down 20 lbs before surgery and second goal to be 165 post op.
The doctor I had originally chosen no longer carries Bliss insurance for self pays. to my surprise my work insurance does not cover in any way shape or form bariatric surgery. so I am paying out of pocket. this last year I worked really hard saved all my alot of my commissions have save around 10 k for my surgery. I am in the process of quiting smoking , drinking , pretty much my whole social life for this surgery. thats how much it means to me. I am excited and scared at the same time that what if i dont loose the wieght. What surgery is best for me? ???? I had chosen to do the bypass but may have to change since the original doctor i was going through had a great price for me, and I have done all my pre lims already only to find out the other office I may have to go through includes it with the price. so I am paying for somehtin I already have.GRRRRRR any how I am doing this for me and no one will change my mine !!!
