Minor Setback and Moving Forward
on February 5, 2008 7:10 am
Did you know that hospitals make you gain weight? I had no clue! hahaha
Seriously, tho.. I had the most awful experience of a kidney stone last week and was in the hospital for 2 days on a morphine pump. I've never been so well rested! The only bad part was they wouldn't let me eat and I was HUNGRY. I eventually got a turkey sandwich with mustard and a really bland chicken dinner. Anyway, the point is.. I went INTO the hospital weighing 169.5lbs and came out weighing 181.
Damn Damn
So, I consulted with Val who assured me it was due to IV fluids that I was given and then everyone else here on the DS boards backed her up. It's so much like a family here, I just love these people to death! So, I gave it a little time and a week later I am back down to 169.5, just 9.5 lbs from my self-given goal. I think I may have set that too high so I'm kinda rethinkin' it right now.

<-----There's some new pics over there of me in a toboggan hat weighing 169.5lbs and wearing size 10 jeans and a t-shirt my step-son got for me when he was in high school when he was invited to be part of a "tech challenge" at Miami University. He did it two years in a row and I have a shirt for each one, but I've never been able to wear them til now. Yay!

So..anyway, as of today, Feb. 5th, my total loss is 111.5 lbs

Slowin' Down a Bit
on January 15, 2008 8:48 am
Yep, it's about time to post again.

For the first time in my life, it's a New Year without any resolutions. Not that I was a big stickler for them in the first place, but losing weight was always on my mind with the turning of a new year. Not now, and not ever again. Now I can focus on the other ones like winning the lottery and spending more time having fun with my girls before they grow up and leave me.

Things are going pretty well. No real issues. I'm to the point now where I can eat like a normal person again. Bread? No problem. I tend to prefer wheat over white but that's nothing new. A lot of DS'ers can't do bread without getting really bad gas, but I don't seem to have that issue, thank Dog! I feel comfortable going to most any restaurant without fear of there being nothing I can order. It was nice to take the chance on Fazolis and find out that it was OK. My kids love their food. I still prefer steak over anything, though. I can also drink pop in moderation. I say moderation because after a little while, I don't want it anymore. I crave it, take a few drinks and then I'm done. I don't bother with diet pops because I don't drink enough of it to matter. 95% of what I drink is water.

I've lost 3 lbs since last month. So that makes my total loss 107.5 lbs.

Here's a then-and-now pic of last Feb. and a few days ago...

Just An Update
on December 16, 2007 9:35 am
I've started only marking my weight down on the 24th of each month since that was day I first weighed after my surgery. However, I just re-read my last post where it said I was 186lbs in November. Here it is December 16th, and I'm at 176.5 where I've been hovering for a couple weeks. I really don't like plateaus, but I know it'll pass sometime. Plus I've added a little bread to my diet and the occasional pasta, so that could have something to do with it as well. Honestly, I would be happy if I stayed where I am now. I feel wonderful and healthy and I think I look alright. My size 14s are getting a little big, so I think I'm going to go out next week and see if I can squeeze into a 12.
Total Loss: 104.5 lbs

I haven't taken any recent "After" pictures, but Dec. 11th was my and JR's 8th anniversary and we snapped a few pics for that outside my parents house before going out for the evening. Here they are:

And here's my kids!
