Thursday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench! ~ JudyAnne

June 20, 2008 - 6th Month Bandiversary
on June 20, 2008 7:21 am
Today has been six months since my band was "installed".  Even though it has been so many months, I still feel as though I am learning about it. I have never regretted it, and I, along with others whom I read about, wish I had done it years ago.

School is out for the Summer. Hooray!  We are leaving soon for a two week camping trip to Yellowstone. The last time I checked, the park still had spots of snow on the ground and nighttime temperatures below freezing. Brrrr!

June 11, 2008 - almost 6 months out
on June 11, 2008 2:48 pm
Went to Dr. Srikanth's office to have another adjustment. The nurse said I was doing ok, but she determined that I was too loose when I told her I could swallow 4 pills at once.  She put more saline in to tighten the band.

I have been unable to eat very much for the past two weeks. I suspected the band was too tight, but I kept putting off going in to the doctor as I thought it was simply a problem of what I was eating. After almost every meal, I threw up. It was not very fun. I had not been taking any of my pills, nor drinking any protein shakes as they were too difficult to swallow.

Yesterday, I threw up after drinking plain water. I decided a trip to the doctor was in order.

I had some saline removed and now have a total of 4cc in the band. While I was in the office, with the huge syringe sticking out of me, I tried to drink some water. It got stuck. The nurse removed some of the saline and the water went down easily. Wow! What a big difference. I now have to stay on clear liquids today.

The nurse told me that once you start with the vomiting cycle, then it is hard to stop because everything gets swollen up inside.  She said that this was not a time for me to work on weight loss, but to work on getting back to feeling better and being able to keep water down.

Spent all weekend weeding the yard. Yesterday my husband, son and I rode bikes until I felt like my butt was ready to fall off.

My Story
