Surgeon Testimonial

Gilberto Ungson, M.D.
I have communicated with Dr. Ungson via email & he responded within 24 hours. I have spoken to his assistant, Luz, numerous times. Both speak English very well. Luz is very nice & competent. In my research on deciding a surgeon, I found that many people had many positive things to say about Dr. Ungson, his staff, and the hospital.

I want to be able to return to a very active lifestyle.   I'm hoping to meet some people that share similar struggles with weight issues & learn new information.

*UPDATE*
I did that!  I am a normal BMI & very physically active.  I'm happy with my life!  I'm a lucky girl :)

My Story

I've struggled with my weight almost my entire life, 7 years old & up.  I love exercise, but seriously struggle with the food end.  My highest weight was 282 in March 2005, went down to about 220 by April 2006 with the old-fashioned diet & exercise.  I maintained/fluctuated b/w 220 - 230 for a little over one year.  I was exercising 10 hours per week, excluding stretching, doing pilates, free weights, jogging, & Taekwondo.  Ended up getting plantar fasciitis summer 2007.  It's morphed into heel spurs & bursitis, now 15 months later.  Very, very frustrating.  My prior strategy was when I had a "bad" food day, I would just put in an additional workout for 2 one hour sessions in the same day.  Now, I can only weight lift & how the weight's coming back!  Even when I was exercising my little heart out, I still could NOT get under 220.  Exercised to the point I injured myself.  I don't see any other choice right now but to have bariatric surgery.  I need something to help control food intake to lose weight enough where my feet will heal so that I can add back in the exercises that I really, really miss.
