Surgeon Testimonial

Brad Winterstein
Dr Winterstein did my RNY on June 22nd, and has been a great Doctor for me. I did well with the surgery and am recovering well. I am very pleased with Dr. Winterstein.

Well it has been 2 weeks since surgery, and I am feeling pretty good.  I am down 10 lbs, and starting to feel a little less week.   I only had one 24 hour period of relentless vomiting, thank heavens I haven't vomited once since.  I had one incission that started draining in the hospital and drained like crazy for a few days.  That incission stopped draining and healed up about a week and a couple days after surgery.  About a day or 2 later I had a different one start draining, not as much as the first one, but it is still draining.  All the other incission sites are healed up.  I went to the pool with my family the day before yesterday with a waterproof bandage on it.  The pool felt wonderful.  I was pretty wiped out all yesterday, but feeling better today.

6 days till surgery!

I am really excited, but my emotions are on high.  I found myself thinking of the what ifs.  Wanting to tell family members stuff, just in case.  I know I am doing the right thing, I guess its just the "risk of surgery factor" that is making me a  bit nervous.  Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

I have my surgery date, June 22!  My pre-op with Dr. Winterstein is May 24th and physical and history is after June 14th.  After over a year of jumping through hoops and as the Insurance girl from the Dr office said they were making up stuff as they went, I finally have a date.  Just have to get the 10lbs off and keep it off!!!!!

YAYYYYYYYYY.......YIPPIE>>>>>>>HOORAH............ AT LAAAAAAASSSSSST !!!!!
I finally got the call yesterday that I was approved for surgery! Whew! After a year and 2 months, and jumping through every hoop imaginable, and as the insurance girl at my Doctors ofice says satisfying every whim they made up as they went along, I at last know I am going to have my surgery.  Now it's a new waiting game.  Next I will get the call in the next couple of days to schedule.  I already know that they are booked on surgeries through June 22 though.  SOOOOOO, I am hoping to have it by my birthday which is June 30th.  That would be a wonderful birthday present.  Wish me luck on being able to get this 10 lbs off and keeping it off so I am ready for surgery(I have lost and gained it many times now). It is coming off before I weigh for my Doctor if I have to use a chainsaw (lol). Any supportive well wishes and advise is very welcome.  Bless you all!

Finally a Little Progress
on March 6, 2012 8:21 pm
So I finally heard from the Doctors office today, and I have an appointment set for Monday to start pre-op testing.  I have to get through with this and take this 10 lbs off once and for all ( I keep losing and gaining back about 8 lbs) then it shouldn't be too long till I get my RNY at last.  Please keep me in your prayers.

My Story

I am a happily married Mom of a grown son, and a grown daughter, and a seven year old daughter, and one two year old granddaughter, and a full time online student working for my bachelors of psychology.  I have a family history of heart failure.  I injured my back badly just before getting pregnant with my youngest, so I cannot exercise or even move around like I use to.  This is when I put on most of my weight.  I have tried many different weight loss methods, with little success.  I want to be around to raise my youngest daughter, and see all of my grandchildren born.  Something my parents didn't do.  I need help to get this weight off so I can move and exercise like I use to, without excruciating pain.   I have had my initial consultation with Dr. Winterstein and we decided that RNY is best for me, and I am waiting for my psych eval. and Nutricianist appointment on the 31st of this month.  Then my approval from medicaid will be awaited.  Any advise and  prayers are much welcomed.
