I have my surgery date, June 22! My pre-op with Dr. Winterstein is May 24th and physical and history is after June 14th. After over a year of jumping through hoops and as the Insurance girl from the Dr office said they were making up stuff as they went, I finally have a date. Just have to get the 10lbs off and keep it off!!!!!

It is good to hear after all that time waiting your day is finally coming. I am just trying to get info on how this all works. Is there a certain weight you have to be to have the surgery or if you weigh to much they won't do it?

Hi bigmama0217,
The reason I have (8 lbs now)that I have to get off before surgery, is because my surgeon requires that you lose a few pounds just prior to surgery; because this gives him a little extra room inside you to lift and work beneath your liver, which also shrinks a bit from this loss. It is not a specific weight that you have to be, just that he requires a few pounds of before for your own good.
If you are just beginning this process or considering it don't become disheartened by my long wait, it was not a normal wait. Most people get through the process much faster than I. I just happened to be the one unlucky in that respect. Hope I have answered your question well. Best wishes,
