Liz, I am so excited for you to have your surgery. I know you will feel like a million bucks. Don't get discouraged during the early days, and remember to walk, walk, walk, walk, walk in the hospital. It's very important. You are in excellent hands and have an excellent facility. I'm waiting for you on the other side.

Congrats Liz! I know you are going to come through surgery with flying colors. You've done all the work to get where you are. The "hardest part" is almost over now. I'll be keeping you my prayers. John

Got my surgery date!
on April 2, 2008 6:28 pm
I went to weigh in today and had lost another 5 lbs.  That makes 35 lbs lost total.  I need to lose 37, so they went ahead and scheduled my surgery with the stipulation that I lose the other 2 lbs.  I'm excited and nervous at the same time, but I guess that's normal.  I'm just ready to get the surgery behind me!  My surgery date is April 21st!

Angiogram results
on March 14, 2008 11:12 am
I had the angiogram on Tues. morning.  They couldn't find an artery in my groin, so ended up going through my arm, yuck!  Anyway, Dr. Ghani said there was no blockage found!!! Yay.  He said he would send the cardiac clearance to Dr. Broussard right away.  I have a follow-up weigh in on Wed. 3/19.  Hopefully, I will get my surgery date then!

Stress Test Results
on March 6, 2008 9:14 am
My cardiologist, Dr. Ghani, had his office nurse call me just now to tell me that my heart ultrasound was good, however they found an abnormality in the tip of my heart that will require an angiogram to see if there is blockage or if there was a false positive on the pictures.  So, they can't give me cardiac approval for my sleeve surgery until after they get the results from that and if they fiind anything I may have to have a stent.  I'm so upset, I feel like turning to food for comfort, like I normally do, am having a hard time dealing with this news.  My angiogram is scheduled for March 11th and I'll know the results then.

Second follow-up visit
on March 3, 2008 2:21 pm
I went for my second follow-up today.  It's been two weeks since my first follow-up and I've had my cardiac testing done and I've lost another 11 lbs.!  So, I need to lose another 14 lbs.   They said if I'm close enough to my goal at the next visit they will go ahead and schedule the surgery!!  Wahoo!!!  Soon I'll be sitting on the loser's bench with everyone else.

First follow up visit
on February 18, 2008 5:35 pm
I went for my first follow up visit today.  I received all of my bloodwork tests and met with the nutritionist again.  They changed my diet to no carbs to help my hunger.  I lost 8 lbs in 11 days for a total of 12 lbs off towards my 10% goal of 37 to get the surgery.  Just 25 more lbs to lose.  I'm encouraged by the weight loss, but I'm starving.  I'm not used to being hungry, so it's an adjustment.  I know that it's what I HAVE to do, so I'm sticking with it!  Can't wait to get a surgery date!!!  Wish me luck.
