My story is this, intinially I started the program in April of 2005. I met Dr. Hess @ his Quincy office evrythign went off with a blast. Initially I had done extensive research and had wanted the DS, but after I spoke with Dr. Hess he let me know that dr's barely preform that surgery anymore and that maybe some dr. in a really small town in the mid west would do that type of surgery. At the time of my consult the only surgery he had preformed was lap band, open/lap RNY. I was so terrified of getting the RNY, but after talking with him he kind of persuaded me to reconsider the RNY. Now he set me up with my packet to start pre-op testing. I started testing in September 2005. I did the pulmunary test, blood test, and I started the x-ray portion of it. But when they ask me if I thought if I might be pregnant, i responded with a not so sure yes/no. So they recommended I do a blood test, so I did it. They had me waiting for at least 1 1/2hrs for the results. The funny thign was that I felt inside that I already knew the results and I didnt have to wait for them, even though I had not taken any previous test or missed my period. Well, sure enough I was pregnant, the x-ray tech did ask me I fI wanted to continue with the testing but to be aware that it can harm the baby. So I did the right thing and did nto continue with testing. I know this sounds weird but, it was a sign of relief to hear that I was pregnant. I guess even though I needed to physically get surgery, I just wasn't ready for it mentally.
Now April 2006, and I have my baby, so I call my pcp and let her know to put me back on the program, but before I did that I made sure I finished up on breast feeding because, I know you can't do anything medically to your body while pregnant or breast feeding, actually I should say it's not recommended. So after I got my self situated and stuff maybe around September or so. I guess becasue I had that 9+ month or so hiatuas, I had been erased from their system and had to place as a new patient. So I had to do another consult on December 18th, 2006.
December 18th, I went to my 2nd consult. Dr. Hess had me see his colleage first, then he came in to meet with me. I said he had remembered me from last year, so he basically had me finsh were I left off.
