Wow, this has been a long time coming. Not the surgery.......the courage to finally do something about my weight. Why do I feel like such a failure? I'm even a little embarrassed to share the surgery with many people. I guess for fear of being judged. You know...the..........if you just stop eating the things that aren't good for you, the weight will just fall off. Or.....get off your butt and move....that's all it takes.  Hmmmm...I've tried both, many times and failed. Now, I'm 51 years old and I'm running out of time. Time that I desperately want to spend with my family....my granddaughter.  I'm afraid if I don't do something very soon, I won't be around for all the joy they give me. Thank you God for giving me another chance.

Hmmm

Well, I ended up back in the hospital on Thursday for 2 bags of fluid. I had wasn't able to eat or drink much of anything since my surgery on Monday......and couldn't stop retching. I was so afraid the band had slipped. The Dr. was too, but sure glad they decided to try hydrating me before another swallow test......MAJOR YUK!  He also prescribed a second anti-nausea med since the first one didn't work.  It was wonderful and worked quickly. Thank God!
Saturday and Sunday have been super and I am now able to actually enjoy a bowl of creamed soup and keep it down. I am feeling positive!

SLIMING
on December 2, 2010 11:25 am
Well, the sliming lasted a little longer than I thought it would.  lol  I actually had it happen 5 times all together yesterday. It took about  7 1/2 hours for the blockage to move through. Ewwwwwwwwww...that was horrible.  I didn't ever vomit though. Thank goodness! I will be a lot more careful from now on.  Today is better. Just having trouble getting enough fluids down during the day. My stomach must be really swollen. But......I feel better.  YEAH!

Well, I did it........I made it through the surgery.  This is my 3rd day out and I'm feeling so much better. Had a small incident with sliming......YUK!....ate my soup too quickly at lunch....but got through it without throwing up and am waiting for a couple of hours before I try drinking anything again.
I am very excited about my future!!!  And......thank you to the new friends I've made on here. Your words of encouragement make all the difference!

Surgery Date Set
on November 14, 2010 2:44 pm
Well, It's almost here.  I started Medifast today and my surgery is 11-29-10.  I am excited and frightened all at the same time.  I want my family's support and for them to be able to understand what I am thinking and feeling but this is such an individual journey.
I was diagnosed with diabetes on 10-14-2010 and have been dealing so extensively with it and my immediate health that I haven't had time to think about my surgery much. Now that it is so eminent...I'm panicking a little.  I want this very much and am driven with putting my diabetes into remission.  Any advice or experiences that any of you have had regarding diabetes and lap band or just lap band is greatly welcomed.
