Scott, Have the Greatest Ever on the 1st!! It’s good to see more guys out here on Obesity Help. We make up a small minority of the people having Weight Loss Surgery, but tend to lose down quicker and with fewer hassles than the women due to Male Physiology. Drop by the "Men's Message Board" at- http://www.obesityhe lp.com/forums/men/ -to see how other Guys are doing with their surgeries. A lot of info and advice specifically tailored to Men. I’m just dropping by to let you know that there’s a huge crowd of strangers out here pulling for you and holding you in our prayers. May you have a famously successful surgery and a record-breaking recovery! Be nice to the nurses, Enjoy the drugs when you can, and most importantly, hurry home and start walking away from those pounds and into a new Life! Best Wishes-

Decided to have WLS in August 2006.

Had Lap RNY on March 1, 2007.  Two days in the hospital (Dr. was ready to release me after one day, but hospital contract with insurer requires two days).  My prayers were answered and I got my complication, and much to my surprise, virtually pain free surgery and hospital stay.  The only discomfort was when I woke up in recovery it felt like I had done a thousand sit ups.

Thank you Dr. Quebbemann and Dr. Braverman for putting your surgical talents to this use!

Thank you to my wife and two wonderful daughters who have supported me through my weight struggles and this surgery!

Down 98 Pounds
on May 23, 2007 6:42 pm

Hoping to hit the 100lb lost mark by the end of the week.  Hope I can do it since I have a very painful stiff neck which is keeping me from exercising.

Lost about 12 inches in my waist so far.

Going to surgeon's office on June 10 for 3 mos. follow-up.  Everything is great!

8 Weeks Post-Op
on April 30, 2007 5:08 pm
Eating is a drag.  I am never hungry and it is hard to get 80+ grams of protein a day.

Drinking is fine.

Down 80 pounds.  (Some of that was pre-op liquid diet, but I don't how much).

Walking a lot and trying to find time to get the the club to ride the excercise bike and lift some weights.

4 Week's Post-Op Today
on March 29, 2007 11:05 pm

Had surgery on March 1, 2007.  I have lost 55 lbs.  Some of that was from my two-week pre-op diet, but I don't know how much because they did not weigh me before surgery.

Pre-Op Time Line (March 1, 2007 Surgery Date)
on February 6, 2007 12:24 pm
January 23, 2007.  Went to required education seminar at surgeon's office.  Liked the staff and liked the surgeons.  Very approachable.

January 24, 2007.  Consutlation with surgeon.  Nice guy,  He get's it.

Surgery scheduled for March 1, 2007, pending insurance approval.

January 27, 2007.  Blood panels done.

January 29,2007.  Abdomen and liver ultasound completed.

January 30, 2007.  Yikes,  I received insurance approval.  (Having a case manager assigned because of previous problems was a godsend.)

February 2, 2007.  Cardiac consult and EKG.  Schedule Nuclear Stress Test and Echocardiagram for February 7, 2007.

February 7, 2007.  Dobutamine Stress Test today.  That was fun - not so much.  Followed up by Nuclear Heart Scan.

February 8, 2007.  Follow up "at rest" heart scan today.

February 12, 2007.  Pre-op consult with internest at surgeon's office.  Went over all test results.  Everything is ok.  It's a good time to have the surgery before things start to get too bad.
