Day Six
posted on 5/3/12 11:21 am
My first NSGs!  (Is that the right acronym? I forget.)

Anyway.

This morning, six days after surgery, I put on a pair of shorts that I could not snap comfortably before surgery.  They are very light weight hiking shorts, microfiber, and I haven't had them on in years.  Even though they might have barely snapped closed last week, they wouldn't have stayed snapped unless I figured out how to suck in my breath and never breathe again.

This feels... good. Really good.

I am still sore.  My insicions are red and I'm keeping an eye on them.  I am still barely scratching the surface of learning how to manage my fluids and such.

But so far, the good progress is:

As of Day Four I was finally feeling well enough to log my intake and to take in protein drinks.

Day Five I had 79 grams of protein, mostly through shakes and unflavored added to broth, but still.

I have lost a total of 23 pounds including pre-op diet.  I think I may have lost 9 pounds since surgery, but I can't remember exactly what my surgery weight was so will double-check on that.

I haven't fought queasiness since Sunday, and that's the big win. It's what turned the corner for me.

So, all things told, today is good.  Really good.
