I'm in (0)

I have been overweight my entire life. It bothered me a lot until I was about 15 and realized that I was more mentally stable and confident than most of my skinny friends. So, anyway, my WLS story starts with gastroplasty in 1999. My mom is Chinese and while visiting her in Taiwan, one day she says - "hey, if you want to get that stomach surgery here, it's cheaper and i'll pay for it." So, I was like, "yeah, okay." The surgery was a complete failure, and I would like to believe it is mainly due to the fact that i had no pre- or post-op education or support, so I ate through it, puked a little and lost a total of 12 lbs.

5 months today (AKA 22 Weeks)

I'm now 7 lbs away from my second goal of 199, and then I get to start my countdown to 178 (Century Club).  Moving right along. There's really been no drama in terms of dumping or people saying stupid stuff, or anything, so I don't have much to report, other than another 4lbs gone forever, which is just fine by me!

20 Weeks Post-Op

I'm 11 lbs away from my second goal of 199.  Doing well, especially now that I've discovered that I can eat beef jerky, which totally helps me get my protein in. I can't believe I can eat it, since I haven't been able to eat solid red meat in over 5 years, w/out getting ill. I'm happy and love it. It's nice to run into these little surprises.
Since I'm able to eat salad again, I've been much happier about my food options, even though I have to make sure I get my protein in, which I don't always do.
Also, I started to lose my hair about a month ago and am trying to be better about my vitamins and protein. It's no surprise that it happened, since it happens to so many people, but I'm still bummed about it. Hopefully, I can get it to stop falling out and start growing back.

15.5 Weeks Post-Op

I've lost exactly 1/2 of the weight that I need to lose to hit my doctor's goal. My goal weight is actually 175, but hers is 155. We'll see where is all goes. Updated my ticker, and it's looking good...

11 Weeks Post-Op (Uh-oh)
on July 11, 2007 11:31 am

I'm not going in the wrong direction, exactly, but I've only lost 3.5 lbs in the last two weeks, which is about half of what I had hoped to lose (5-6 lbs.). Keep on trying, I guess.
