Welcome to my profile page. Below you will see my "diary" of my WLS journey. Also, see my story if you want to know more about me. There's not much to know, but then again, I guess I can be pretty deep when I want to.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, although I'm no expert on any one thing! But I had a friend tell me that I knew more about absolutly nothing than anyone she knew! Compliment? Dunno, but I took it as one and said thank you!

Three years out plus some! on January 8, 2010 3:23 am
Well, August 2009 I was three years out. I'm discovering that I have to diet again. I've put on about 20 pounds because of stress eating, and I find that I can eat way more than I should be able to. This means that I've got about 40 pounds to lose. I'm up over 200. Actually I'm t 205. But I'm going to do something positive for myself. I'm going to join 24 hour fitness with my mother and start excersizing. I think! LOL! I'll post soon and let you know if that's what I decide to do. I've wanted to join for some time, but my lazy butt stops me every time! I know that's something I have to work through. It helps that I've been diagnosed by the Veterans Administration doctors with Post Traumatic Stress Disease due to Military Sexual Trauma. I've been taking medication for it and it has helped quite a bit. I'm still getting adjusted to the meds so I want to sleep more than usual, but it'll level out. I'll keep posting so I can keep myself on track!

Two Years Out + some! on December 3, 2008 7:47 am
Well, it's been more than two years. I'm finding that I dump more on sugar now than I did when I was a newbie! Interesting! My lowest weight so far was 181. I'm back up to 188 today, but I'm going to get really strict with myself and get back down to 181 and below! I really want to get to 170.
Then maybe I'll start looking into Plastics. I really don't have a problem with skin, but I'd like to get a professional opinion anyway.
I gotta tell you that I have lots more cofidence in myself nowadays. The surgery was definately worth it! Don't ever question it. It's the best thing I ever did for myself. Everyday I get up and marvel that I can wear those size 16 jeans and a large shirt instead of the 3X I was wearing before!! when I do laundry, I just can't believe that those are MY shirts!

Wow! What a ride! I can't believe it's been almost 10 months since I've had surgery!! I'm down 95 pounds and I'm loving it! People keep coming up to me and telling me that they didn't recognize me until I spoke, and they just knew that voice!! What a trip!
This has been the best thing I've ever done for myself. If you are questioning whether or not you should have this surgery, dig down deep and make sure you are ready to take the plunge. But I can honestly tell you that it's the best decision I've ever made.
I'm in a size 11/12 shirt and a 14/16 skirt. Down from a 22/24 in everything! My jeans have gone from a 50 waist to a 38 waist, and they're not tight! (Well, not too tight! Gotta show off the booty don't I!)
I still have about 40 pounds to go until I reach MY goal, which is 160 (my max weight for life). My doctor set a goal for 141, but I"m not sure I want to get that low. People are already asking me when I'm going to stop losing, and I'm only down to 200 pounds. I tell them that I have 40 to go and they want to know where it's going to come from!! Like I said earlier, WOW!!

Well, I'm now three months out. I'm down to 229 as of this morning, which is a loss of 66 lbs so far. I'm doing well, I think. I don't want to loose it too fast, which I'm not and I'm liking the way I'm feeling.
I had my first foamies about a week or so ago. My sister and I went to Micky Ds for breakfast. I got a scrambled egg and a sausage patty. About an hour later, I was ready to throw up! When I did, foam. Is that weird or what???? Afterwards, I was ready to go shopping again! I don't know what it was, but I don't like it. Dang, foam!!
We went to Houston for the International Quilt Market which is open to professionals in the quilting industry. My mom owns a store. Anyway, I was able to walk more this year than in years past! Exciting! My back is still giving me fits, but after three surgeries, what did I expect? Anyway, we had a blast, got tons of inspiration and spent too much money, but a good time was had by all!

Well, I'm four weeks and 3 days out. I've still only lost 22 pounds, but I'm not getting my protein in like I should, and my fluid intake is low. I'm probably not walking like I should. I get 3 miles in, but it's not continuous like when you go for a walk. It's mostly at work around the plant.
I'm feelling better, my energy is up some, but I'm still not at full capacity. I know it'll get better. I'm really getting tired of mushy foods tho. I'll be ready for solids, and I think I'll start this weekend. It's Labor Day weekend and what a good time to start. I don't have anything planned with the family tho, but you never know.
I didn't measure when I started this odyssey so I don't know if I'm losing inches or not, but I think I am. My pants that were way too tight before the surgery are much looser on me. More so than just 20 pounds would explain. Oh well, I'm just glad that I'm losing weight. It feels good. And I can't wait to see myself smaller. I don't mind that it's going slow, because my skin will adjust easier if the loss is slower.

My Story
Background
Let me give you a little background information on me before I get into my journal. I'm 45 years old, (will be 46 on 9/11/2006) and I'm Morbidly Obese.
I started this life as a skinny little kid, and until I was 13, I could eat anything my little heart desired. Ahhhhh, what a wonderful life! My father was in the Air Force so I moved around a little bit. We just happend to live in Altus Oklahoma when my struggles with weight started. When I turned 13, almost to the day, I started gaining weight. I grew so much that year that I actually got stretch marks on my thighs. I hated that. From that point on I was on a diet. High school, all four years were spent in Azle, Texas just northwest of Fort Worth, wasn't the best time in my life. I was new to the school, a little one in a little town, and felt out of place. I had a few friends, but not many. So food became a friend.
After school, I went to college but dropped out to go into the Air Force, which made my father proud. But I had to lose weight to get in. My maximum weight limit was 156 and I had to lose to be at least 10 pounds below that to be able to enlist. I did it, but it was a struggle. I went to Basic, which consisted of 6 weeks of scarfing an entire meal in 5 minutes followed by marching everywhere, obstacle courses, and running every day to work our way up to a mile and a half by the end of the training. I made it, barely, and only lost 3 POUNDS during the entire 6 weeks!!! I was devistated! But I had great legs after we were done!!
So I was trained to eat in the military. I never lost that training. When I learn something, I learn it good!
After I got out of the service, I was hired by the Postal Service. After 3 years there, I injured my back. After three back surgeries and 6 years to have them in, I was heavier by 120 pounds, which I couldn't afford because it was really bad for my back! Talk about irony. I used to be able to keep the weight off by walking and eating right, but now I couldn't walk. The doctor did a fusion on my lower back, Disks L3-4 and L4-5, and I was back on my feet. But I still can't walk very much, and after 16 years of trying everything to get the weight off, here I am.
I've tried, unsucessfully, 3 times to get this surgery done. The first time my insurance didn't cover RNY. I changed insurance companies and changed my mind and wanted Lap Band. My new insurance didn't cover Banding, but I tried twice to get it approved. Which now I'm glad because I've changed my mind again and decided that RNY is the way for me. I want this to be permanent, and the only way to assure that for me is to go with RNY. My cousin had this done and wouldn't go back for all the money in the world. So have several people I work with, and they all say the same thing. They would do it over again in a heartbeat.
So here we go. On with the journey and my journal. I hope you enjoy reading what is going on in my boring life. I will do my best to keep this updated so that whoever needs it can read it and hopefully get the knowledge they need.
Enjoy!!
