Surgeon Testimonial

David Arnold, M.D.
Dr. Arnold was very detailed about the surgery. Very good bedside manner, and a cutie! The staff at Baylor Weightloss are very cordial. It does take a while when you call for someone to get back with you. I've always had to leave a message and wait a day or two for a reply. I would say that Dr Arnolds competence and beside manner are both great.

Monday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench! ~ Judy

Almost 2 years out!
on March 9, 2009 2:57 pm
My goodness just now noticed I've not updated my profile in a very long time. As most of you know I've had alot of "challenges" this year. First my dear brother had RNY in July and was in ICU until he passed in Oct. I would never want this to discourage people from having WLS but want people to know that it is major surgery and can go wrong. And than got laid off from my job of 7+ years. I'm so blessed to have found support at OH. I'm still at my goal weight but did get down to 140 and a size 8 after he passed and everyone was telling me I was too thin esp in the face. So I've gained back up to 150 and am maintaining a size 12. I'm happy to go from a size 22/24 to a size 12. But have days when I have the urge to eat all day long. The further you are out the more you can eat and still need to focus on portion control, carbs and getting your protein in. I've not done a very good job of exercising at all. If I had to do it over, I would have exercised along the way

11 Months Out
on May 5, 2008 5:00 pm

I'm still 8lbs from goal. I'm wearing more 12's than 14's these days. Still struggle with stress eating. Now that I can eat anything and everything. I do not dump on sugar (wish I did) the good thing is that I don't crave it much. I still have no regrets of WLS. I have met some awesome people.

I've not been very good about taking pictures lately. The weight loss has slowed down. It is becoming more difficult to stay on track, because now I can eat just about anything and have to fight the urge stress eat. I'm down to 160lbs and wear a size 14 but am starting to fit into some 12's. I have just 9lbs to reach my goal of loosing 100lbs I'm still so glad that I did this and would do it again tomorrow. I not only look much better but can't believe how much better I feel.

My goodness it has already been 8 months. I got too busy to post 7 months out or take pictures. I'm feeling great. I'm now in a size 14 jean. I feel great! My energy level has doubled. I'm just now feeling the weight loss. I have an apointment this week with the PS to see about a breast reduction and I've also finally joined a gym.

Wow it's already been 6 months. I'm happy with my progress. The holidays have been difficult staying on track. I can now eat anything I want, and have to fight that old urge to graze when I'm stressed with work stuff. I've lost a total of 73lbs, overall 43inches and have gone from a 22/24 to a 14/16. My energy level has doubled.

My Story

I'm a 47 year old grandmother and have been married to my sweeheart for 28 years. He has had me little and big and loves me at all sizes. We have a 27 year old son
Chad and daughter in-law Mandy and grandbaby Aleah. And a 21 year old daughter Summer and son in law Kirk, who are expecting their first baby in December. My goal in having wls is to be an active grandmother. I want to be the grandmother that takes them to Six Flags and runs and plays. I was not obese as a child or teenager.( my measurements in HS were 36-22-36) sigh...the good ol'days I gained weight 20 years ago after finding out I had Myasthenia Gravis. So I was on mega doses of steroids for four years. My weight has gone up and down thru the years. The past 7 just up. The good news I'm in remission with the MG. I've never had low self esteem about my weight (I guess I probably should have) , but have noticed lately when I fly on business, I'm starting to feel self conscious that I take up too much room. I am the type of person that believes that if you do not like something in your life, take charge and do something about it. So this is what I am doing.
