Surgeon Testimonial

Dale Sloan
My first impression of Dr. Sloan that he was very educated and informative. He was quiet but when I had any concern or question he took the time to explain it. His staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He and his staff do a great job emphasizing the importance of aftercare. I do however wish there were more post-op classes on nutrition and behavioral content. I know other patients would not have wanted more but i wished there was an option for me as an individual. All the staff make sure you know that you can call or email with any questions or concerns. Overall Dr. Sloan and his staff are caring, knowledgeable, and informative.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. I would feel bad about my weight so I would eat more to make myself feel better.

Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar...
on March 15, 2012 1:22 pm
I did!  Im ashamed that I keep dipping my hand in the cookie jar. Ive been nibbling on chocolate, cookies, and chips.  When I say nibbling I mean nibbling.  Its a bite here and bite there.  Ive been craving salty and sweet foods. I think that I am getting discouraged.  IM trying not to because I know my total weight loss is great.  Ive lost 126lbs in less then 7mons.  I went from losing 20-25lbs a month to 4! I should be happy that IM still losing.  How do I stop nibbling? I keep telling myself not to but I do it anyway. I have no self control.  :(
On a positive note...I just bought a Wii and I bought a dance game and I love it!  I do about an hour of it and I sweat and feel great afterwards.
My highest weight was 365, my surgery start weight was 342. I am currently weighing in at 215. I went from a size 28 down to a 16.  I should be so happy and I usually am so why am I stickin my hand in the cookie jar?

NSV and More
on February 4, 2012 5:35 pm
I am 5 months post-op and have lost 115lbs. I feel wonderful.  I am actually beginning to feel like a "normal" person.
I bought pants from goodwill this past week and size 20 and 18, Ive been stuck at a 22 for quite some time.  I tried the size 18 on thinking there was no way they would fit and they fit wonderfully!!  The 20 fit too but were loose in the waist.
I am below 250lbs. I am almost below 225.
My goal was to below 225lbs by the time I went back for my 6mon check-up. I think I will accmplish it and may aim to get belwo 215lbs.
My jewelry is loose on me which is always nice. I went from a size 28w to an 18. I went from a 3/4X toa XL shirt in misses.
I started doing turbo jam twice a week, then I walk once a week. Do weights and and light cardio 1-2 times.
i feel so good!

First weigh-in after surgery
on September 8, 2011 4:18 pm
I went and had my appointment with the doc and had my weigh-in.  I lost 12.5lbs in 10 days! I was super excited! I felt bad because a few other ladies who had surgery the same day didnt lose as much so I kept it to myself.  But now IM sharing so I feel better. :)
Super excited and happy!
The only thing that stunk was that I have to get a ct scan to make sure im ok since IM having pain.
Id rather be safe then sorry, though.

Surgery on Monday!
on August 26, 2011 6:29 am
I got approved by my surgeon for RNY surgery on Monday!! He said that if he opens me up and sees any signs of inflammation he will not perform it but instead do the lapband.  I decided im ok with it either way.  I lost 22lbs in three weeks so I am feeling good!  IM a little nervous but I think thats normal

My Story

My name is Jenn and I will be having gastric bypass on August 29, 2011.  I am actually not at the heaviest I've ever been.  My heaviest weight was 365.  In high school I was average size I fluctuated between 155-170lbs.  Around the age of 20 I gained about 40lbs and never really tried to lose the weight.  When I hit 260lbs I realized that I need to do something so I went on the opti-fast diet.  I lost 60lbs and felt great.  Within a year I gained it all back and then some.  When I had my son in 2009 I weighed my heaviest at 365lbs.  Six months after I had my son I went back on the opti-fast and got down to 240lbs.  I was so proud of myself until I gained it all back.  Every time I lose weight it seems to creep right back on.

At this point in my life I am married, and have a beautiful family.  It makes me so sad to think that I cant get on the floor to play with my son.  I cant run around with him like I want to.  I really feel like this surgery will help me get to place I need and want to be.

I hope to find positive support on this site and hope I can be a positive supporter to anyone in need.
