Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I am a self-diagnosed carboholic. I lived in a vicious cycle of eating to feel better, then despising myself for losing control and feeling guilty over my failure. To feel better....I ate again and started the cycle all over again. My cycles snowballed and I was tired of the ups and down of not only the weight but my emotional/psychological state.

Hi Ruthanna, What an inspiration you are! I came across a reply you made to someone yesterday and had to come over to your profile. Can't read it all now, but plan on bookmarking for later. I can see that you love the Lord and it's wonderful for you to share your testimony with others. Looking forward to knowing more of your story! Take care & God Bless You~~~Lisa

I had to fear death to begin a new life.  At 53 & my highest weight ever, I knew that my physical health was being jeopardized w/ each pound gained. I was depressed. I needed a solution & for me, weight loss surgery was my only choice. I truly believe that God can equip people to step up to the difficulties they face. We can look them in the eye without fear, defy the odds & watch a miracle be born in the face of impossibility.  This is an account of my miracle

I will pray....
on June 21, 2008 6:46 am
It happened again. Just when I started feeling as if things were going well, I messed up. Forgive me Lord. Wash me clean and help me to be vigilant, listening carefully to Your Spirit inside my heart. I praise you among all others.

"You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you."
Psalm 86:5

PRAYER:
Thank you, dear Father, for placing the people in my life who
have shaped, taught, corrected, and supported me in my life with
you. I am thankful for your support of me through their words,
example, and touch. Thank you for giving me a family to travel with
on my journey home to you. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Are you doubting yourself?

You are ready

You are ready, right now, to achieve whatever you choose to achieve. There is energy, desire, creativity and effectiveness rising up inside of you, ready to be released.

You are prepared for whatever may come your way. You are in a position to take it all in and make it all good.

There are deeply held values that you are eager to express. You have magnificent dreams that now can be brought to life.

You have what it takes to make this the best day you've ever known. All the lessons you've learned, all the experiences you've been through, have made you ready.

Better than ever, you now understand what it means to live fully. More than anytime before, you now have access to opportunities for meaningful and lasting achievement.

Just think about how well prepared you are, and that makes you even more so. Now you are ready, now you are willing, and now you are watching yourself begin to make it happen.

My Story

April 09, 2010

I come to OH less often than I should.  I still get encouragement by reading forums, posts and viewing the pictures of brave people who undertake weight loss surgery.  In December I will be 7 years post WLS.  I don't look back!  Today is exciting an tomorrow is full of hope.  I am 60 years old.  I take no prescription medications.  I continue to watch what I eat and have no regrets about the delicacies I once indulged in.  I keep meeting my professional and educational goals.  Goals that I didn't start until after my WLS.  PTL. I stand amazed!
