Late.... 1 year anniversary
on December 23, 2010 4:17 pm
I haven't posted in awhile because I've been preparing for ankle surgery. My anniversary was 11/16/10 and I've lost over 100 lbs. Not sure of actual weight today because I'm sporting this big black  boot. I haven't been able to exercise much since 5/2010 when I broke the same ankle for the second time but I still managed to shed a few pounds. I had to watch my food intake dilegently in order to continue to loose. Freaking potlucks were everywhere at work but I managed to say "No" most of the time. At 10-12 months I would bounce from loosing and gaining the same 5 lbs. WTH??? That gain drove me crazy but reading other posts on OH helped me realize that I needed to shake things up and switch up my diet. I started logging my food on myfitnesspal.com on my droid and looking where I could cut calories. My surgeon believes that I "may" be able to skip the second surgery on my ankle if this surgery was completely successful. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm ready to enjoy walking & working out again and make it to goal. My weight goal right now is 185 ish. I'm 5'10" with large bones so that'll be good/healthy for me.

Needless to say I am very happy with my health, despite the ankle problem. I feel good inside and look good outside so that's a win-win situation for me. I no longer shop plus size stores unless they have 12-14s and even then I just don't want anything associated with plus size anymore. I enjoy shopping where ever I want to.

I posted some new pics and plan to post more soon.

I wish everyone Happy Holidays!

My family is having a Gumbo throwdown. I plan to eat light and play hard(well as hard as I can with this damn boot, lol) during the holidays!

Until next time.

9/29/10 My Bday
on September 29, 2010 1:07 pm
Well todays my BDay and I just knew that I would loose control and eat way too much. So far I had my protein shake for breakfast. My co-workers took me and my supv(her bday was yesterday) out to lunch and I had  1/2 of a chicken quasadilla with black beans, onions, peppers. It was sooo  gooooood too! They also bought us a slice of carrot cake and mines is still in the take home box. I'll give it to the kids later.

I'm 10 mos out and still not really exercising because of my ankle. Doc wants me completely off of breads and tortillas. So I did cheat a little bit today but I'm proud to say that I didnt eat the whole thing. THis time last year, that thing would have been gone and I would have had dessert too. Speaking of dessert, my coworkers also bought whole chocolate cake. It looks so delicious but I declined because I don't care to be dumping all freaking day for a piece of cake.

I'm having sugery on the ankle early Nov. Which is my surgiversary month. Weird huh.. I'm hoping and praying that the surgery successfully corrects the problem with the ankle and I can get back to exercising. I really miss walking/jogging on the weekends. It'll take a year for total recovery but my pain should go away pretty fast after surgery, well it'll probably still hurt at the incisions for a while.

I'm ready to loose the last 40-50 lbs and get back to enjoying life to the fullest and be able to go out on dates without looking all disabled/limping. Hell, I need love too.. Right now I'm enjoying it from a distance but still trying to enjoy my success as much as possible.
until next time.

I went to class last night and was able to sit in my desk comfortably for 3 hours. My behind was not hanging out over the edge of the seat and my belly was not sittig on top of the desk top.  As a matter of fact my belly didnt even touch the edge of the desktop.I'm so happy about this..... Wow!!! I've come so far. I'm loving my RnY!!!

9 mos post op
on August 30, 2010 11:54 am
It's been 9 months since surgery. I've lost 100lbs from my highest weight. I'm truely happy about that and I'm feeling so blessed to be healthy. I still need to loose 40-50 more and it's hard to do. My weighy loss has slowed all the way down. I'm just now able do more cardio due to my ankle but it's really starting to feel so much better. I'm hitting the weights too so every now and then the scale moves up a pound or two but it comes back off in a couple of days and every now and then more weight will drop off with it, but now much.

I'm with in 20 lbs of my 17 year olds weight and she's working out like crazy. She cant have her mother looking better than her. So now I'm working out harder too cuz she thinks I'm going to be looking good. LoL. I love that. We work out together and enjoy hitting the weights hard so maybe that'll boost my body to let go of those last pesky pounds.  I must get on my grind so that I can wear a bathing suit at the beach next summer. So that's my next goal.

I'm trying to date now. Internet dating is crazy. There are some interesting people out there & some extremely SPECIAL people too,  if you know what I mean. LoL.  I never really cared for it before but it seems like the old fashion way of meeting has nearly died and everybody is on autotune with the internet.  So we shall see how that works.

Once I get my money right, hopefully in the next couple of months, I plan on travelling again. I want to go somewhere for my Surgiversary but I don't know where yet. But I still have time to figure that out.

Until next time......

7 months post op

I saw my surgeon 6/11/10 and he was happy that I'm still loosing weight. He was not happy that I was wearing a boot to my appt (I fractured my ankle 5/1/10) and he wants me back in his off in 3 mos to make sure I'm still loosing I guess. I lost a total of 90lbs (80 since surgery, my numbers may have been off in previous posts) which is great. But when I look at myself I still see a fat girl. I know it's all in my head and I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. I'm haven't worked out in 7 weeks and I can't wait to get started again.  Maybe that'll relieve the fat girl woes, IDK. Hopefully my Podaitrist will let me take the boot off this week.

I'm taking in about 80-90 grams of protein in a shake plus I'm eating protein. I'm not measuring the proteins that I eat so I'm guessing I get about 110 grams of protein a day. My hair is growing back, kinky as all hell but it's growing back! So I must say that I'm happy about that.

Now all I have to do is find a boyfriend and something fun to do and I'll be ok. I hate being single but that's the way it is right now. You know, now that I think about it I would probably be feeling a whole lot better if I was getting some every now and then. TMI huh. LOL.
Until next time........

My Story

Hello,
My name is Meme & I'm a single  mom with two teenage girls. I've gone thru the weight loss/regain roller coaster since I've had my second child which was almost 15 years ago. Can't seem to shake off the weight. I was thin-average all of my adolescent years, then decided to have a family and look at what they left me. LOL. (Just kidding...I love my girls) It took me a few years of trying before turning to WLS but I'm glad I did. I hope to have my surgery by 10/09. No date set yet, I have Kaiser insurance and we are required to attend a 6 month program before being referred & I have 8 weeks to go. I've had family that's had the procedure done and they're successful. So I hope and pray  that I'm just as successfull as they were.
