Surgeon Testimonial

Julie Leverton, M.D.
I had my consultation with Dr. Leverton in June. It was a long drive from where we live, but well worth it. Their office A/C was broken that day but we sweated it out! Shawntae, her assistant, was a riot! She made my husband and I feel right at home. Dr. Leverton was awesome. She was surprised that I knew the word 'co-morbidities'. LOL! She is so cute! She was surprised that we are coming so far to have the surgery done in Wylie, but I know I have chosen the best surgeon for the job! I can't wait for my turn to finally be on 'the other side' and be losing this weight forever! There are 3 reasons why I feel that Dr. Leverton and the BTC are the best and they are: 1) She is a woman and can identify with women in general. 2) She is very meticulous in her surgery scars and they are barely visible. 3) Having it done at the BTC is better than a hospital because you don't have to deal with sick patients who have diseases and infections, and the whole atmosphere is healthier! 4) Having it done at the BTC is better because EVERYTHING is catered to the obese patient! EVERYONE should have their surgery here! LOL!

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all. (unknown author)FROM MY HEART TO YOU ~*~Hugs~*~

Robin, I agree totally with your post. People going thru plastic surgery are just as important as people having wls. Its the icing on the cake. I want the same support when I have that as I did with my RNY. Just wanted you to know that I am on your side 100%. Hugs!

Six Years After Surgery!
posted on 8/16/07 7:19 am

Well, it's been six years today that I laid my life down on that gurney to lose over half of me! Time really flies!

I know that we all struggle with post op weight gain and I am no exception.  I've gained up to 182 three separate times since my surgery in 2001.  The first time was during the holidays and I managed to get back to the basics and get back to 165.  The next time, in 2003 I managed to lose the weight by following the Weight Watcher point system.  I also logged my eating habits on Fitday.com.  I found out that if I keep below 1200 calories a day I can lose weight.  Now, in 2006 I gained weight again but this time I wanted to lose weight without feeling like I was being deprived or even making much effort.

I remembered that aside from consuming lots of protein and eating healthy, that I should eat something throughout the day to keep my metabolism going.  So, I chose to eat ONE thing every hour and it worked!  In the morning I always start my day with eggs and turkey bacon in a small bowl.  Protein will keep you from getting hungry and when you don't start your day with carbs, you won't crave them!  So, since that was a 'meal' I would wait until I actually felt 'hungry' (NOT mouth hungry) again.  Then I would choose whatever I wanted but only ONE of it.  So if I wanted a granola bar, I would eat that.  If I wanted a CANDY bar, I would eat that.  But I always try to incorporate fruit and veggies somewhere in the day in order to keep healthy.  The KEY is to NOT get full under any circumstances!  I wanted to eat the small amounts like I did in the beginning after surgery but I wanted to eat what I wanted.

Most of the time, since 2003, I've weighed 170, but I made it a personal goal to get to 155 today and I MADE IT! I haven't weighed 155 since 2003 before my tummy tuck and breast reduction.  My measurements are smaller than they have ever been!  Here's a real eye opener for ya:

Weight:  325                            155

Bust:    59                                39

Waist:  50                                30

Hips:    60                                40

Arms:   19                                14

Thighs: 31                               22

Calves: 21                              16

My THIGHS are now only one inch smaller than my CALVES used to be!  I never knew I was so huge!

This next year I am getting my arms done and plastic surgery on my eyes to make me appear younger.  I will be 50 next year and I want to look as young as I can for as long as I can.  I know that is vain, so pray for me!  LOL!  I hate turning 50 and it's going to be hard for me!  I feel so much younger than that!

God bless you all!
