Titus Duncan
I first met Dr. Duncan at the Seminar and he has a great humor about him. He didn't leave any stone unturned about the surgery. He doesn't try to talk you into the process at all and lets you know ALL of the risks and benefits of it.I had been very determined to have the WLS before I got there but after the deminar I was over the top with enthusiasm.I also had an office visit the same day as the seminar and there staff if very nice. They even came out into the waiting area and asked if anyone needed anything like water. or anything else. I wouldn't change my mind at all on the choice I made of him.

Never look back, and keep on looking forward to tomorrow! Tomorrow there will be less pain, tomorrow there will be more energy, tomorrow is filled with hope, tomorrow is already on it's way, tomorrow is bright and full of wonder, tomorrow is a new day, and keep making plans, keep hoping, and keep looking forward because tomorrow is coming! Yesterday is gone, it is the past, tomorrow is the future, and today it is a gift, that's why you call it the present. -unknown

Its been a ride I tell ya! My kids just all left from the holidays with us yesterday and havent really had time to update the profile. We got to Atlanta Thursday morning and man it was really bad weather. It was raining ice I tell ya and the roads were terrible and the schools were all closed around ATL. The ice had the trees all bend over and traffic was something else. I left the house at four in the morning and got there at twenty five after eight. Had just enough time for Leon to throw me out at the door. I was also happy because it was freezing rain!! The complication class was packed. There was people from all over the state. If I had to guess, I would say there was at least thirty five people there for class. It got started late because Dr Duncan had dr appointment with his gums. He told me he had vingivitis. SO he was talking funny that day but could tell he wasnt in the best mood feeling wise. The class just dragged on from people asking the most stupid questions. If they had done there homework, and also researched they would know most of the questions jeez!!! So by the time class was over it was like two something. We were all starving and poor Leon was somewhere downstairs and had been there since eight thirty!!!( thats love lol) So after class I was told to weigh and had to take off my knee high hose and weighed 376. Twenty pounds gone!!! I was so happy and couldnt have done it without such super support from my angel Tanja and also Deb telling me the ends and outs of what is best to eat while trying to lose. So after weighin in I sat and sat and sat and finally they called me back to sit in a room till the dr came in. Well it was the new doctor and she was very nice. She got me to lay back and she poked on the belly some and that was it. Then I waited and waited and waited till had been there like hour and one of the nurses says. mrs odom? You are still back here and Dr Duncan hasnt came in to see ya? And I said NO!! So they got me to go back out to waiting area and so there I sat again waiting. They finally got me to go back to the room again and sit lol. I was a nervous wreck I tell ya. I didnt know what he was gonna say about me only losing twenty pounds. I know they wanted me to lose at least 50 but said 60 would be better so amagine how I was feeling ugh!!! Well he came in and was in good spirits. I was even ready to cut the water works on if had to lol. I was determined NOT to leave Atl today without a surgery date. Well he smiled and cut up and poked my middle section with me standing and said " oh you will do just fine" lol.. in the meanwhile I breathe a sigh of relief when I heard that!! I told him I had come a long way and was ready to get a date and he said... Well, im really feeling under the weather today for a date maybe later lol. He has a great sence of humor... so I strutted out of there and ran Yakema down and told her I was ready for a date and she said ok........ ready???>>> JANUARY 27th 2006!!!! I will be going to have surgery that day!!! ANd I have to go back to Atl the 17th of January for the pre op appointment for the chest exray and blood work and all that jazz. Have to be there at 9:30 for that. And the surgery is on a Friday so my kids have aready booked motel rooms for them and one more night for when I come out of the hospital so in case I have any complications.... So thats it!! I will update later on as things happen...

Picking up my daughter
on December 13, 2005 10:27 am
I'm off to go get my daughter Janese from the Jacksonville Fla airport in a lil bit. She is flying in for the holidays. She cant stay till Christmas but thats ok too. All the kids will be here for this weekends celebration... yeah!!! Anywho I had to get on here and tell you about my day yesterday... I was being so lazy yesterday and Of corse am now having to make up for that today. But anyway I was laying on the couch watching Paula Deans cooking show and the phone rang... I answered it and it was my angel Tanja!!!! I was knocked over with the thrill that she called. Man that was such a great suprise. She said she was impatient and couldnt wait for me to get on the computer to tell me that she had gotten her christmas presents from me... I was so happy to hear from her!!! omg!!! So that totally made my day.. I called everybody I could think of and tell them she had called me... I had gotten her a pair of boots and a coat and gloves, scarf, and hat, and lets dont forget her grits lol. I sent her some instant grits... Them northern people just dont know what they are missing lol. She loved it. And I even made her "boys" (kitties) stockings with there names on them. Couldnt leave them out lol... She is such a great person and deserves more than that to tell ya the truth.... She has lost so so much weight this year and deserves the best!!! She has alot to look forward to in the new year!! I also have been getting ready to go to ATL in a few days. I have eatten very lowfat and sticking with it very well. Im down to 378 as of this morning on my scale. Now dont know what there scale will say at dr's office but thats alright to. As long as it dont go up instead of down lol. So will post when I get back from ATL trip for the update!!!

Yakema talk
on December 6, 2005 10:25 am
I tell ya, I have made so many calls when it comes to this surgery its not even funny, well maybe a lil lol. I called Yakema this morning because I couldnt wait any longer to see what day I needed to go back to ATL to Dr 's office so could find out surgery date. So called Yakema and she said she didnt have the letter from ins yet stating that I had been approved. Which why not,, BCBS was slow at approving so why be quick with letter. She was so nice though and told me to call them and they can give me a approval code number thingy and that would be good enough to get me in the system for a date to ATL. So called and then called Yakema back and have an appointment for Dec 15th at 8:30. Man thats early when got to come to far. But who cares..... It is called complication class.. I was told that I will be given a surgery date then. OMG can it get any more dragged out. I never knew it was this time consuming and I do amagine some others are like this to. I am so concerned to about my weight. At the first visit they wanted me to try to lose about 60 pounds. Can you amagine. Have I NO!! The more I try to do good the more I eat. SO with Tanja at the helm I am trying my best to get with it. I have slacked and messed up so much during this time till it makes me sick thinking about it. Noone to blame but me. So for this week and next till I walk in that door at Dr's office, I am so gonna be doing great. I have no choice but to do good. I havent gained which is good but havent lost alot either. So like I told Tan, either I'll come home to buy slimfast or come home with surgery date lol. So for now this is the status. The kids are coming down next week for christmas visit,. We are having it early so that will keep me busy with cleaning and all. So will be on pins and needles till next Thursday..

on December 2, 2005 10:24 am
It has been a very good day for me! I AM APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I said it APPROVED!! It took them almost a month to the day but finally some good news. I have talked to the insurance person at Dr. Ducans office."Lolita" and she says she will call the insurance company and get the letter faxed to them. Then I can expect a call one day next week from Yakema telling me when to come to ATL for a dr's visit. At that visit I will be told my surgery date!!! YEAH!!!!! I want to thank Tanja so much for being by me all the way and not letting me loose it over worrying all the time and being so impatient. She is the best!!!
