One Month Out
on June 17, 2008 1:48 pm
Nicolle says I owe a post for my one month Surgiversary so here goes.  Things I have learned about the DS in one month:
1.  Thirty pounds is a lot to lose and it makes me feel good to have lost it.
2.  I can see my face.  I actually devoted more than two seconds to looking at it yesterday and I wasn't saddened. It's older but still sorta cute.
3.  I can't wait to be able to eat more foods.  I'm kinda stuck in a safe zone because it makes me feel normal.
4.  I would do this again even with the tantrums at mealtimes. No, not stomping my feet, just can't get a taste for anything but want something but can't eat anything but gotta have protein but don't like the shakes but gotta have lotsa water but don't want to fill up on water. Ay-Yi-Yi!
5.  I LOVE my DS.

Twenty-Five Days out
on June 10, 2008 5:40 am
It's true.  The older we get the smarter we get.  I called Barbara in Dr. Rabkin's office about my legs and she had me go to my PCP for a diagnosis.  He sent me for an ultrasound and no clots were detected so the pain was from (most likely) fluid redistribution following surgery.  I have also figured out the vomiting thing.  I am swallowing too much air.  Evidently I don't sip very efficiently because when I do take my time I am not nauseous.  I started my vitamins and they are swell - - - except the ADEKs haven't arrived yet.  The calcium pills are so large that they have not gone down very well.  They scare me a little as I have choked a few times.  I ordered the powdered packets from vitalady and will switch to those as soon as they arrive.Of course,  I learned much of this from the forthright and friendly OH people but had to experience the symptoms myself and get my own stupid act together.
I'm feeling pretty good - still need a nap and getting anxious to begin a little more exercise.  I was advised to wait until five-six weeks because my surgery was a little more extensive.  The breakdown - - - I'm feeling better every day.  I can't wait for next Monday which is the Pacific Laparoscopy Support Group meeting and I see Nicolle, my angel.

Eighteen Days Out
on June 3, 2008 8:24 am
Okay, now I'm getting frustrated.  I feel nauseous most of the time, have no appetite, have trouble drinking enough water, want to sleep but am still uncomfortable, and I'm back at work 2 1/2 days a week.  I want to try new foods but it's not time for that yet. I start vitamins on Friday and I hope I can keep them down.  I've stopped all pain pills.  But I plan to take one tonight so I can sleep through the night.  My incision is still oozing but I think it's getting better. I want to feel a little more normal that I am.  Also, my legs hurt like they were bruised or something. This a cranky whiney little post but I have to be honest.  As soon as I post this, I'll start feeling great.  It's a karma thing.
