Surgeon Testimonial

Andrew Duffy, M.D.
Dr. Andrew Duffy is the best!!! He is with Yale University Bariatric Surgeons - a center for excellence and he is in with Dr. Robert Bell. I went to the seminar on 12/8/06 and listened attentively to all they had so say. Needless to say when Dr. Duffy presented I just knew that this is the guy I was looking for to do my surgery - he knew his stuff and he was kind and sensitive to my questions. I was getting frustrated because I could not get an appointment for my psych eval prior to 1/07 and he was kind enough to give me the name of Mark Gaynor, LCSW and I got an appointment right away. My paperwork was all complete and in Dr. Duffy's office by 1/2/07. Since I did not get a call with an appointment by 1/3/07, the very next day, I decided to e-mail Dr. Duffy on our Groupwise system that we use at Yale and I said \"I am hoping God places it in your heart to read this e-mail - I need a date!!!\" and he read it - I got a call with a date four days after. I feel confident and I know that I made the right decision. The staff is great, Jane, his nurse manager was great - she had R&Y a couple years ago and looks great and she used to work as an OR nurse where I work which is part of Yale too.

FINALLY ON MY WAY - FEELING GREAT AT LAST!
on April 26, 2007 5:37 am

I can finally say I feel great!  My energy level is up.  I am walking/running on the treadmill 30 minutes each day.  I just barely got into onederland and it seems that although I am following everything to the T - I did not get up on that OR table to fart around with my diet - the weight loss has slowed down.  I just posted a before and after picture a few days ago - I am down several sizes but I still have 65 more pounds to lose - all in all when I started dieting back in October, prior to my surgery to date I have lost 75 lbs.  Since surgery I have lost 43 lbs.  Well I feel like throwing the scale out of the window and I need to stop jumping on it every day but I cannot help myself.  I know I am building muscle now and that could be one of the causes but for me it gets a little frustrating because I just want the numbers to go down!!  All in all despite the agony of my complications I feel great and now I feel it was well worth it after all!!!!  I get compliments every day.

IT'S GETTING BETTER
on April 2, 2007 3:02 pm

I am sooooooooooo glad I am feeling a lot better now although still on the weak/fragile side.  I still have rubber legs and get tired easily - plus my abdomen is still very sore especially in the area of the gastrostomy site however it is healing beautifully - hope I can get rid of the ugly crater someday.

On 4/5/07 it will be two months since my surgery.  I just returned to work full time today - and was very glad about it.  I have lost a lot of weight so far but am more concerned about regaining my strength right now.  I am having a terrible problem eating - everything makes me gag if I smell it - the foods I liked are not appealing anymore neither are the ones that I do not like.  Plus I am nauseous all the time and have this horrible bitter taste in my mouth that makes me gag.  Someone please tell me this is going to go away!!!!!! Sometimes I wonder if I made the right decision.  I really do not want to start regretting this.  I really want it to work for me.
