Andrew Duffy, M.D.
Dr. Andrew Duffy is the best!!! He is with Yale University Bariatric Surgeons - a center for excellence and he is in with Dr. Robert Bell. I went to the seminar on 12/8/06 and listened attentively to all they had so say. Needless to say when Dr. Duffy presented I just knew that this is the guy I was looking for to do my surgery - he knew his stuff and he was kind and sensitive to my questions. I was getting frustrated because I could not get an appointment for my psych eval prior to 1/07 and he was kind enough to give me the name of Mark Gaynor, LCSW and I got an appointment right away. My paperwork was all complete and in Dr. Duffy's office by 1/2/07. Since I did not get a call with an appointment by 1/3/07, the very next day, I decided to e-mail Dr. Duffy on our Groupwise system that we use at Yale and I said \"I am hoping God places it in your heart to read this e-mail - I need a date!!!\" and he read it - I got a call with a date four days after. I feel confident and I know that I made the right decision. The staff is great, Jane, his nurse manager was great - she had R&Y a couple years ago and looks great and she used to work as an OR nurse where I work which is part of Yale too.

He is back in the hospital again...

When to I catch a break.... two Sundays ago I hear this funny sound and it is him ... having a gran mal seizure I thought he was dead ... call the ambulance ... rush him to the hospital and now we are back to square one ... now it is now one foot - it is both feet we are worrying about on top of the kidney .... OH GOD PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ... I WILL NOT CURSE YOU ... I WILL ALWAYS PRAISE YOU BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ALREADY.....

I AM WEEPING LIKE JEREMIAH ... I WILL NOT BE THE ONE TO CURSE LIKE JOB DIDN'T CURSE YOU ... AND I AM STILL COMING UP THE ROUGH SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN WITH MY DAVIDIC PRAISE ... BUT I NEED A BREAK ... ALREADY....

In the interim, I will continue to have the Big Girl Me, Encourage the Smaller Girl me ... and I will occupy until I get my MIRACLE ... because I KNOW YOU ANSWERED MY PRAYER and I am Believing YOU for my DH's healing ... IT IS OVERDUE AND THIS SISTA IS TIRED!!!!!!!

...and she resides in me .. the big girl that I once was keeping my eyes on the mark of a healthier life ... even when all hell is breaking loose around me ... I am going through a Jeremiah experience in the hopes of having Job's perseverance as I wake up each morning with a Davidic praise......

..I am still smiling and still hanging strong ... those of you who know our story say a little prayer for Al .. things are not looking too good ... not good at all ... yet I am forever grateful for the wonderful life we share as I move on each day with a prayer and a press...

26 months post WLS ... through happiness and adversity I am pressing on ... one day at a time ... I share my pictures to encourage someone else.. as I encourage myself....

when this is all over I am scheduling the date for my brachioplasty and lower lift .. I think I have now found the courage I need... I found courage in adversity - go figure...
