Surgeon Testimonial

Andrew Duffy
Dr. Andrew Duffy is the best!!! He is with Yale University Bariatric Surgeons - a center for excellence and he is in with Dr. Robert Bell. I went to the seminar on 12/8/06 and listened attentively to all they had so say. Needless to say when Dr. Duffy presented I just knew that this is the guy I was looking for to do my surgery - he knew his stuff and he was kind and sensitive to my questions. I was getting frustrated because I could not get an appointment for my psych eval prior to 1/07 and he was kind enough to give me the name of Mark Gaynor, LCSW and I got an appointment right away. My paperwork was all complete and in Dr. Duffy's office by 1/2/07. Since I did not get a call with an appointment by 1/3/07, the very next day, I decided to e-mail Dr. Duffy on our Groupwise system that we use at Yale and I said \"I am hoping God places it in your heart to read this e-mail - I need a date!!!\" and he read it - I got a call with a date four days after. I feel confident and I know that I made the right decision. The staff is great, Jane, his nurse manager was great - she had R&Y a couple years ago and looks great and she used to work as an OR nurse where I work which is part of Yale too.

TOGETHERNESS... 21 YEARS AND ROLLING!!
on August 29, 2010 5:09 am
25 years ago we met ... he picked me up where I was broken  ... the stranger who called the ambulance 21 years ago we wed ... me his fat bride ... he a healthy man... whose kidneys shut down 16 years ago..
3 years ago we renewed our vows ... prior to me going in for my panniculectomy - him recovering from kidney transplant and rejection issues along with tram flaps and toe amputations...
2 weeks ago we stood with other couples and reaffirmed our commitment to each other...

The first time around my 3 year old son was our ring bearer .. the little kid who asked him to marry me...
Second time around I walked in on the arm of my son ... to renew our vows...
Third time around we stood with other couples and reaffirmed our commitment...

IT WAS NOT AND IS NOT EASY ... BUT WE HAVE EACH OTHER AND WE HAVE YOU MY DEAR CYBERFRIENDS ... ALWAYS ENCOURAGING US ON THE JOURNEY

I stood beside this man through his kidney failure and his kidney transplant and most recently his forefoot amputation ...

He stood beside me through lumpectomy and hysterectomy and a whole bunch of other ectomies ... He encouraged me on my weight loss journey and did not leave my bedside during my RNY nor during the surgical intervention the day after my RNY for complications ... he held me and cleaned me when the secretions around my ileostomy bag burned into my skin ... but look at us today ... WE ARE TOGETHER IN SPITE OF....

He is walking in spite of and I am enjoying every day of my journey for life in spite of ... we are survivors and we encourage each other ...

LAST NIGHT IN A FAMILY AND FRIENDS GATHERING WE CELEBRATED OUR ANNIVERSARY (actual date is Monday) ... and all he wanted was a video ... snippets of our togetherness...

I made all the dresses for my marriage and vow renewals ... and I shared them on here ... in 2008...

This is a recap of my journey WORKING IT TOGETHER WITH MY FAMILY FOR LIFE ... Thanks for allowing us to share.... it is our testimony ... not to boast at all ... but because when we were down we were able to get up ... because of the wonderful people in our lives like you here on OH and because of our inner strength that tells us to take our lemons and make lemonade!!!! SHARING OUR VIDEO ... THANKS FOR ALLOWING US TO SHARE....
