Why White Dove?  My husband and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary and a month later he was in a hospital and I was being told his body was full of cancer and he had very little time left.

Two months after our wedding anniversary I said Goodbye and walked away to go the funeral home to make arrangements.  Two months after that I had a memorial service at my home which was attended by hundreds of friends and family.  I had a dove release where three white doves were released.  They represent the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Those doves form a circle and wait for the dove to be released that represents the spirit of the person who is deceased.  The three doves circled above me and I released Joe’s dove.  His dove flew up but instead of going into the circle of the other three, Joe’s dove alighted on the garage roof.  He walked back and forth chirping at everyone like he was saying hello.  Then he flew off in the opposite direction of the other doves and landed on the satellite dish of the bar where Joe used to hang out.

The other doves flew home and Joe’s dove finally flew away a few hours later.  When the people who trained the birds apologized, I told them that it was totally appropriate.  Joe did not want to go to heaven, he wanted to go to a bar.

I use White Dove as a reminder to not be afraid to go my own way in life and to remember that Joe is somewhere watching over me and helping me in the rest of my journey on earth.
