Surgeon Testimonial

Thomas K Byrne M.D.
My first impression of Dr. Byrne was that this was a very nice man. He made me feel comfortable and answered any questions I had. His office staff has been fantastic. Lisa Johnson has really supported my ever effort to get this done in a quick timely manner.Aftercare is emphasized.

Finally below200!!!
on January 8, 2011 4:07 am

Well, I finally got below 200lbs. I am so elated! I will
post some pics later today. This has been such a good
decision I made! It has given me my life back. I have
not been below 200 since before my son was born and
he is 26 now. I have so much more energy. I am trying
to find some work out machines to buy. You know like
exercise bike or rower. I like the step ones too. Life
has been so easy lately,it scares me! I Thank GOD for
his BLESSINGS!

Nice Day
on November 9, 2010 6:33 pm
Today has turned out to not be too bad. I seem to have
more energy today and I don't hurt as bad. I am struggling
to try to get in enough liquids and eat 6 small meals. Does
anyone have any tips? LOL. Overall, I am hoping that I
will soon be able to start seeing a loss in weight. It will
be a week tomorrow. How has your weight loss started?
Was it slow the first week or two? Also, need some good
recipes for the pureed diet. Will be glad when on month
is up! Will write more later.

My Journey began.....
on November 9, 2010 4:22 am
Well, my journey really and truly began last Wed. I had my surgery
At MUSC. I had problems with breathing,b/p,diabetes and about
anything else  that could come back. But, thankfully I finally got
better and have been home one day. I am very weak and still hurting
some. Not real bad but hurting just the same. Trying to get sorted out
so I can make sure I get enough of liquids and proteins. I keep looking
at scales and little disappointed that I haven't lost . When do you start
losing?  Anyway, I am still thankful that I was able to fulfill my dream
and have this wls surgery done. Will write more later. Thanks to every
one for their prayers!

I am getting more nervous,as the days go by! Just be glad
that I can soon have it over(surgery). I know that Wed.
morning will be here soon.So glad my son is going to be
there with me. My daughter couldn't get off work. It is
just a little scary. But, I will be in GOD'S hands. Please
think about me on Wed. Will let you all know how the

My Story

Hello, my name is Beth. I am from Conway,SC. I am 52 yrs. old and have been overweight for most of my life. In the past 4 yrs. I have been thru a divorce, which was a major change in my life. I was married for 26yrs. I have
always wanted this surgery but now I know I need it. I have many health problems and I am on disability. I went to the first meeting for WLS surgery and was so happy. This was back in Oct. 2008. I just knew I was soon going to be on the road to my new life, healthier and feeling so much better. But, the next week, I got a letter stating my medicaid insurance was terminated because of a small monthly alimony check my husband has to pay for 3 yrs. I have been so disappointed. I have tried so many different things to see if I could have this worked out. But, I know that God will help me get to the right person or place to have this necessary surgery. I read the forums and blogs here every day and know that soon hopefullly I will be one of the lucky ones. Please keep me in your prayers. You are all such caring people and hope to get to know you soon. My health problems are : high blood pressure, depression, sleep apnea, intermittent claudication.,borderline diabetic, COPD,hip, back and knee pain, unable to walk very far because of pain,GERD. Please keep your fingers crossed for me! Thanks! Beth
