So long pounds....
on April 18, 2008 2:21 pm

I went to Spectra for my follow up with the nutritionist.  I lost 9 pounds...that's not bad!  She also has given her "thumbs up" for the surgery based on her opinion.  Now I need to have a sleep study, stress test then get the official OK from Spectra.

For the past 24 hours I have been experiencing some very bad pains in my lower left side.  Perhaps gas?  OOO...it's painful.  It's even hard to move!  The nutritionist suggested a couple of things...1000mg of Vitamin C every hour until I "go" and a product called "Smooth Moves" tea.  Hopefully it will help with the effects of all of the cheese I am eating...if you get my drift.  Yikes!!!

Three weeks on Pre-Op diet....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
on April 15, 2008 2:04 pm
I am bored with the diet. Bored, Bored, Bored.  You see, this is usually the point when I jump off the diet train and back onto the gravy train!  I want the foods that I want.  But I won't undo what I have done.

Remember those six pounds that were gone forever...well they are back in water weight due to my cycle.  (No, this isn't a cycle one can hop on and ride).  Hopefully within a couple of days I'll be down a couple of pounds again.

I've made it through some restaurant visits and done fairly well.  I am proud of myself.

Well, I'll check in after my visit with Spectra this week.

Two Weeks of the new diet and down Six...
on April 8, 2008 10:52 pm
Well, I didn't weigh myself at home prior to going to Spectra.  I didn't think my scale would go that far. I didn't, but for some reason, it's weighing me now.

Six pounds gone...forever.

Today I went to my official psychiatrist's office.  Lots of questions, lots of answers and some unexpected tears.  Since being diagnosed with depression, I've done some thinking.  I have an awfully easy time saying things about myself that I would never let anyone say about my friends.  I figure that everyone is thinking those comments already, let's just get them out there in the open.

Perhaps I am wrong.

I also realized that there is a difference between living and being alive.  I am merely alive.  I am not living.  I am literally weighed down by my own body.  I am too young for this.  I pray that with this surgery I can have an edge on making some life changes.  Changes that have to take place or I might as well start planning my funeral.

So...six pounds of the weight that's holding me back is gone.  I don't notice it yet, but six then six more, then ten more multiplied a few times will do the trick.

My Spectra Appointment
on March 19, 2008 2:06 pm
Well, I guess today is as good as any day to start the official blog, huh?

I had my first appointment with Spectra today.  Boy, was that an experience!  I arrived at 11am for my appointment.  I left at 4pm!!!  That's a long day!  I saw an ARNP, a Nutritionist, a Psychologist, and a physician.  I had an EKG was asked the same questions over and over again by people who had the answers in their hands from the paperwork that was mandatory for me to bring along.   I said "As I noted on the questionairre" about 45 times today.

The end result is that I have some work to do.  I was given a diet to follow that will be similar to the post-surgery diet.  Talk about a 180 from what I am eating today!  Yikes.  I can to it though.

I have to have another sleep study, a cardio clearance (including stress test, I am sure), get some paperwork from my Primary Care Physician, and find and establish treatment with a counselor who deals in body image issues.  Apparently, I am showing signs of depression.  I'm not surprised, but on the other hand, I am.

My hubby just recently was promoted at work so as of today we are in transition with insurance.  Once I am officially covered by Aetna, I'll get all of this done.  Until then, we wait.
