Good luck Mazeitler!! You're about to begin a whole new life, and a 2nd chance to be healthy and fit. I know you can do it! I'm 10 weeks out from a lap RNY, and I'm feeling great! I felt great in the hospital, and felt just a little sore and stiff when I got home, but all of that is long gone.... as is a whole lot of weight! You'll do just fine....just keep smiling and thinking about your future on the "Loser's Bench!"

The first 50 (Post-op)
on July 2, 2009 8:25 am
Well I finally hit 50 lbs post-op for a total off 62 lbs since my journey started.  I have been feeling very very tired as of late and I can wait until this stage of the game is over and I am not feeling so tired anymore.  I went out on my first date since surgery and it just reminded me why I hate dating -- it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Post-Op Exam 5/21/09
on May 25, 2009 4:28 am
Weighed in for my post op at 338 lbs. -- down 20 lbs. from the day I left the hospital.  Got all 23 staples removed.  Only 2 of them lightly pinched and the rest I barely felt at all.  Also had the drain removed.  It felt wierd but didn't hurt at all.

Thank you to all.

Thank you to everyone who has sent me well wishes.  It's awesome to think there are people out there routing for you, and they don't even know you!   This community is amazing.  We all have a common bond and have walked a mile in each others shoes when it comes to weight related issues and discriminations.

All in all I am doing well.  I've been following the liquid diet provided by my doc's office and Kingly Health.  I had to increase my protein intake because I was getting light-headed and a headache by the end of the day.  A couple of times I thought I was going to hit the floor. Drinking the extra 2-4 oz. of protein has done the trick.  I do get a lot of gas pains.  So I am either hiccuping, burping, or farting!  lol  I haven't had to take Prilosec but I have it on hand just in case.

Things I've noticed:

There are way too many food commercials on TV.

I really enjoy the smell of food.
Mom brought home pizza for my daughter on Friday.  It didn't bother me at all that I couldn't eat it.  But I discovered that I really enjoyed just the smell.  So this got me thinking:  I can enjoy food (smelling) with out eating.  Yesterday I went to the movies with my Mom.  The smell of popcorn was fantastic.  But again,  it didn't bother me a bit that I couldn't eat it.  So I realized that I can smell all I want and as much as I want, but I don't have to eat it.   I hope I can keep this mindset for the rest of my days.  If so, it means I've found a new way to enjoy food without abusing it.

"S" Day - May 11, 2009
on May 11, 2009 4:06 am
Today's the day.  It's 7 a.m. and I have been thirsty for about a 1/2 hour now and the hunger has just hit me.  I'm looking forward to that swig of water I can take with my blood pressure med!  lol.  What I am really looking forward to is being able to shop at Victoria's Secrets.

Mother's Day 2009
on May 10, 2009 11:38 am
Well I finished mowing the front and back yard and I am tired.  I just took my magnesium citrate, and I wanted to take a breather before I started doing some laundry and packing my bag for the hospital.  It's funny. The last two days I have been so indeferent about food.  Almost like:  do I have to eat?  I could care less.  I guess that can be a good thing.  Here's hoping I sleep well tonight.
