Hi, My name is Carla and I'm scheduled to have lapband surgery on 11/8/07. I'm 38yrs old and the proud parent of three sons ages 7, 13,and 15. Like most on this board
I've tried every diet and exercise program known to mankind , only to achieve a temporary weightloss. I'm looking forward to beginning my new weightloss journey with a tool that has changed / improved the health / lives of so many others.
I haven't visited the site for quite some time, but I think of all of my friends here a OH all the time. This weightloss journey is really getting the best of me. I went to a support group meeting recently because I fell completely off the wagon, and actually gained ten pounds. Now I'm back on tract with my eating habits and exercise routine. I've also hired a personal trainer. Since I started training with him I've noticed some great changes in my body. I'm so excited about this new year because finally I'm going to more than exceed my new years resolution. As soon as I figure out how to use the camera on my computer I'll post some pics.
On 1/8/08 will mark 8 wks post op, thus far I have lost a total of 24lbs. I guess that's a step in the right direction, but I'm not really excited. I was aiming for an even 30lbs, but I don't think that's reasonable since I only have 2 days to lose six more pounds. Anyway enough about me, I hope everyones journey is going as well as mine or better.
It's official, I'm finally banded. The surgery went great. I was a little nervous when the docs and nurses rolled me into the operating room, but it's done now and I don't feel too bad. I thought I might have some of my old cravings, or be in severe pain, but not yet and hopefully no time soon. I just feel like I've done 1000 crunches without any breaks. (ha!ha!ha!)
Where should I begin? I have had a constant battle with my weight for as long as I can remember. To say that I have tried repeatedly to lose weight is an understatement; my name should be in the world record books for joining/trying the most number of diet programs. Although I have achieved some success occasionally, nothing has been near permanent. This is one of the reasons I've decided to have WLS. I feel that having a permanent tool to assist me, will lead to more permanent results. I will become more accountable for the things I choose to eat and how much. I'm looking forward to living a long healthy life without the plus size clothes, hypertension, shortness of breath, and fatty foods/drinks. When people see me on 11/8/07 post-op, I'll be because I'm finally traveling on the road to weightloss success.
