After years of having the co-morbisity trifecta (Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol) the was spiraling out of control, I decided to take control of my life and had RNY in July of 2010.  I was 360 pounds at my highest known weight.

I knew after surgery that I would have to change my life so prior to surgery I would get up early in the morning and walk in the dark so nobody could see me, yes I was that ashamed of what i had become.  After surgery I continued to do my early morning walks but like many post-ops I had the urge to run.  So I would "run" for a little and walk for a little, until I was doing 4 miles in an HOUR!  11 weeks after surgery I registered for my first 5K and finished in 46.5 minutes I loved the sense of accomplishment but knew I could do better!

Since that first 5K I have ran many 5Ks and now can do a sub 30minute, I have ran Half Marathons, Triathlons and on Sept 30th 2012 completed my first Half Ironman Triathlon.  I am always looking for a way to push myself and discover what I am truely capable of accomplishing.  I am not the fastest runner, cyclist or swimmer, but I refuse to quit and enjoy the sense of accomplishment just as much as the person who finishes first.  The only person I haveto compete against is myself and the person I used to be.

I have embraced the Helathy Lifestyle and encourange those around me to embrace fitness. I encourage everyone to experience the victory of finishing a 5K, and all that our new lives have to offer.
