6 months and 3 weeks
on August 31, 2008 1:35 pm

6 months and 3 weeks and I lost 100 lbs..  I did it!  I can now cross my legs, fit comfortably in movie theater chairs and in restaurant booths, I can shop for hours without having to sit and rest, I can teach without having to sit every thirty minutes,  I can squat down and get up without help and best of all I have this incredible energy.  I take my vitamins and eat my protein first.  I can eat almost everything and I don't feel deprived or like I'm missing out on anything.  Since the surgery, I don't crave the same foods anymore.  It doesn't bother me when someone eats something I used to crave in front of me.  I hope I continue to feel this way forever.

4 months and 3 wks. post op.

I'm doing GREAT!!! Things got much better since I started eating solid food.  I'm eating more than I was before.  I don't measure my food, but my guess is approx. 4oz. of food at one sitting.  After my anxiety attack, the nurses with my ins. suggested and set up an appointment with a therapist.  That was the best thing I could have done.  She helped me tremendously.   I have gone from a size 24 to a 16.  I finally fit in a booth, can walk a mile without being winded and can tie my shoes without passing out.  I'm looking forward to more "WOW" moments. I Thank God for this message board!!! I don't post much but I lurk around and read everything yall say everyday.

1 Month post op

The 3rd and 4th week post-op were really bad for me.  I didn't eat, didn't take vitamins and could harldly drink anything without gagging from Feb. 23- March 04.  I felt horrible.  I ended up in the hospital on March 4th.  They filled me up on vitamins & minerals and other fluids.  The potassium was the most painful going in the IV.  It hurt me more than my surgery. They also found 2 ulcers.  One in my esophugus and one in my stomach. (Too much acid with no food)  I finally got out Sunday March 09.  I had an anxiety attack on Monday, March 10.  (Fear of going back to the hospital.)  I calmed down after talking to the nurses with United Health Care. (GREAT INS.)  I'm still having trouble eating, but I'm eating a little.  I absolutly cannot get the protein shakes in.  I gag every time.  I will just have to take it One day at a time.  I will be on pureed foods until March 23.

One Wk. Post Op

I'm doing fine.  No pain or complications.  I am having trouble getting in the protein and water.  The protein powder is nasty!  YUK!  and one sip of water feels heavy in my pouch.  I can't wait to start on mushy food.  My sense of smell is soooo sensitive.  I can smell everything a mile away.  I'm also soooo bored at home but I know I'm not ready to go back to work.  I probably wouldn't last the whole day with my very active class of 18 2nd graders.
