Surgeon Testimonial

Raeann Capehart, M.D.
I was able to schedule an appointment for 2 weeks from the date I called. My grandmother and Aunt Susie went with me and Dr. Capehart spent 1 1/2 hours talking to us about the surgery and information that we asked. I had a list of about 20 questions that I wanted to ask and Dr. Capehart answered about 1/2 without me even asking. She was very encouraging and talked about risks and what she expects. I really felt comfortable with her and felt that she knew what she was talking about (she has been doing WLS since 1978). She also told me what to expect from insurance and told me that they would likely deny me the first time but that I should get my PCP to write a letter and for me to write a summary of my weight loss fight.
I am having problems with the office staff. I don't understand why but she will not return my phone calls. She has called and asked me if a certain date would be okay for surgery and then a week later had not called me, so I called her, found out that the date was not good and it did not feel like she had planned on calling me. She also has not been checking surgery schedules for both of the hospitals that Dr. Capehart works out of so I asked her to check the other hospital and have now found out that the office is closed this week. When I talked to her at the end of last week, she made it sound like I would hear from her this week.
I just wanted to add that Linda was really working hard to get me the date that I wanted but unfortunately it did not work out.

You look wonderful. You have come so far and I find it very difficult to believe guys are not breaking down your door. You should be very proud. Be patient it may not be a wealthy Plastic Surgeon or other Doc, but I know there is at least one guy very interested in you. Believe

It is hard to believe that it has been 9 years since I had WLS.  So much has happened and most of the time I forget that I had the surgery.  I don't regret my decision to have WLS and never will.  I do regret not getting to my ultimate goal but I am more motivated now and not sick.  I likely would have gotten to my goal sooner had I not gotten a bleeding ulcer a few years after my WLS which drained me of all energy but showed no other symptoms.  Due to that and not absorbing iron, I do have to get iron infusions every year but that is not a big deal.
I met my husband in May 2007 and married him in September 2008. I love him so much and he knows all about my surgery and my life before then.  In Jaunary 2010, we welcomed our daughter Eliza into our lives and in May 2011, we welcomed baby sister Vivien.  My girls are perfect, if not slightly overweight despite eating everything.
I hope that whereever you are in your journey, you are happy and able to see the good in you.
