Check Up Went Well!
Aug 23, 2012
Wow, sorry it's been awhile for an update, time is just flying by!!
I had my check-up with Dr. Acosta this past Friday, the 27th. I was about 4.5 months out with my sleeve. I weighed 177 on HIS scale, my scale showed 175 that morning. He said I had lost 20 pounds and 23% of my excess weight. The goal is to get to 60% excess weight at a year out. My next appointment is in December and he wants me to lose another 14-18 pounds by then. So, I should weigh on HIS scale between 159 and 163. I am still around 175 every morning. I think his goals are doable.
The NUT just insists that I don't go below 800 calories and 50 grams of carb a day. They were pretty pleased with my progress thus far, even if I didn't make the goals they had set for me at this point. I even told the NUT that I am tired of dieting. She said that I shouldn't be on a diet, just trying to eat as healthy as I can at each meal. On the days that I have some junk, she said to take longer walks or spend more time in the gym.
Dr. Acosta also wants my thyroid checked. I know my PCP checks it each year, and he always says it's fine. I do lose weight VERY SLOW. I am 10 days late on my period once again. I truly think something is jacked up with my hormones. I had my PCP run some tests and he SAYS everything looks good, but I know something is off. So, I made an appointment with my gynecologist on Sept 6th. I am hoping he can diagnose and let me know more. Am I perimenopausal? Do I have PCOS? Is t here anything that can be done?
I really stayed pretty good until my appointment with Dr. Acosta. I never got below 175. I was working out and walking like crazy, too. This week has been pretty lame. I have been eating lots of food, but not much of it was bad foods. I have cravings and urges to eat a lot, like normal PMS symptoms. I also haven't been working out as much. I am just exhausted. I feel soooooo tired.
Hopefully, I will have more answers on everything within a few weeks. Until then, I just need to try and eat as healthy as I can at each meal. Thanks for all of the support!!

Killing It!!
Aug 07, 2012
Okay, okay.....yes, I am killing it, and I plan on keeping it up. It's amazing how much better I feel mentally and physically when I exercise my body and eat low-carb. It's actually a better high than eating my favorite foods, so I am not sure why I keep getting pulled back in to bad eating.
Last week was pretty much a write-off. I came down with a bad summer cold. It sucked!! I didn't go hog-wild with eating, but I also didn't stick to low-carb. I definitely didn't get any exercise in after Monday of last week. My boyfriend's birthday was Saturday, so we at out and I also made a luscious chocolate cake. Of course, I sent what was left of that bad boy to work with him yesterday! Had to get it out of the house! ha ha
Yesterday, not only did I stick to low-carb, but I was very active!! I went on my 3.5 mile walk at lunch, met AnneMarie at the gym after work, then after dinner my boyfriend and I took a challenging 2 mile walk. I was down to 175 point something on the scale this morning! Yay! I am not sure if it's possible for me to get to my 167 lb goal in less than 2 weeks, but I will try my hardest.
The NM State Fair will be here mid-September. My next goal will be to walk around the fair very comfortably in my size 10 jeans. Very doable. I am solidly in a size 12 now.
I had my appointment with my PCP yesterday morning. He said my cholestoral was high, at 232. *sigh* Well, I think if I stick to my exercise and low-carb eating, that will be resolved, nicely. I have to get some blood drawn in order to have my hormone levels checked. He put in the lab orders for that and other tests. So, I just need to pick a morning and go. I have to be fasting, so yeah.....not today....I needed my coffee. ha ha ha
Hope everyone has a wonderful week, and sticks to their goals.......we will feel so much better if we do!! Go get 'em!!
