Surgeon Testimonial

Steven C. Poplawski, M.D., F.A.C.S.
My first impression of Dr. Poplawski was \"What an excellent person!\" He talked to the whole group in the beginning but it felt like he was talking only to me and that he understood just what it felt like to be sitting in my place. He spent plenty of time with my husband and I discussing the RNY procedure and what the aftercare would be like. I feel completely confident that he is the only Doc to do my surgery. He is a straight shooter but his level of empathy and respect for his pt's is notable.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I was a mess. I lost and gained HUNDREDS OF POUNDS over the years. I hated myself. I shied away from mirrors, and eventually began staying in the house so people wouldn't stare. I was ashamed of myself, and didn't want people to see me like that. It was a nightmare, living nightmare from which I never could wake up.

I have an appt for a psych evaluation
on February 8, 2007 9:31 am
I got my psych appt. The doc I am seeing is Dr. John Grebe. Nice guy. I met him when I worked as a pain managment nurse. I guess the appt takes 3 hours.

Initial Consultation
on February 7, 2007 2:36 pm
I had my initial consult with Dr. Poplawski. I liked him right away. He made no bones about the fact that this surgery is only a tool and that if I don't address the psych component of this I will gain the weight back after I lose it. I am sure he's right. I have to meet the BCBS requirement of a psych eval. Maybe 2 or 3 visits would be good for me? I will make my appt tomorrow because it is after 5 now and the Dr.'s office is closed.
