Surgeon Testimonial

Steven C. Poplawski, M.D., F.A.C.S.
My first impression of Dr. Poplawski was \"What an excellent person!\" He talked to the whole group in the beginning but it felt like he was talking only to me and that he understood just what it felt like to be sitting in my place. He spent plenty of time with my husband and I discussing the RNY procedure and what the aftercare would be like. I feel completely confident that he is the only Doc to do my surgery. He is a straight shooter but his level of empathy and respect for his pt's is notable.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I was a mess. I lost and gained HUNDREDS OF POUNDS over the years. I hated myself. I shied away from mirrors, and eventually began staying in the house so people wouldn't stare. I was ashamed of myself, and didn't want people to see me like that. It was a nightmare, living nightmare from which I never could wake up.

Still waiting!
on March 5, 2007 11:36 am
I had my psych eval. Crazy , horrible day because a few hours after my appt my father  had a massive heart attack. He seemed to recover well, but to my utter despair he died just 1 week later within 20 minutes of his discharge from the hospital. I just can't believe he's gone. He was only 54 yrs old and not a bit overweight. I am scared to death that I may be next. It has been a terrible couple of weeks. I am still waiting for my PCP to fax my letter to Barix. Then I should be ready for the approval process. I just wish this wasn't such a big game and that people like us that need this surgery could get help without all of the flaming hoops to jump through. But I will jump if it means that I can have the help.
