8 weeks out!!
on July 7, 2010 1:12 pm
I am 8 weeks post-op and I've lost a total of 60 pounds!!! Everything is changing so quickly! I find that I can do new things every day. This is definately the best thing I have ever done. I didn't think I'd ever say that because the first 3 weeks for me were absolute HELL!! I pulled a muscle in my stomach 5 days after surgery. I was in constant pain for those 3 weeks. Every single day I regreted having it done. Then, one morning I woke up and didn't hurt any longer. It was as if someone flipped a switch and I was ready to rejoin the land of the living!! Since then, I've had a few bumps but NOTHING at all like the pain of those first days. I have figured out there are certain things that I cannot tolerate right now, but I'll try them again one day. I just saw my doctor and he said I am doing terrific. Don't have to go back to see him for 3 months. He even said I could go on vacation with my family and ride the rides at Six Flags! I can't wait!! It's been 20 years since I was able to do that!! AND, I have been off all my medications since the day before surgery!!! BP is normal, no acid reflux, cholesterol is good, etc. That's the best part!! The 60 lbs are just a big bonus!! I realized last weekend that I could cross my legs and I haven't been able to do that in 15 years! So anyway, I'm trucking on with this new life and I'm loving it!!!

on April 28, 2010 2:32 pm
May 11th is THE day!!! I can't believe this 2 year struggle to have the surgery is almost over! I can't wait to begin the new journey to a healthy life. I am going for an upper GI, abdominal ultrasound, lab work, chest xray, ekg and pulmonology clearance tomorrow. Wish me luck!!

My Story

So.....I've been fat as long as I can remember. I have photographic proof that at age 4 I was skinny but that changed within 2 years. I remember being fat when I started Kindergarten. It has been a constant struggle since then. I have yo-yo'd my whole life - lose 20, gain 30; lose 60, gain 150. I have finally said enough - I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I want to be healthy and live to see my great grandchildren! I have two sons that are 16 and 10 and I HAVE to do this for myself so that I can be here for them, and their kids, and so on. I'm 34 and I have a wonderful, supportive husband that is encouraging me every step of the way. And I have two amazing friends that are going through this with me. We are scheduled for our BEGIN class on March 24. And so the journey begins..........
