Up Down...need a tool...WLS
on June 3, 2011 7:31 pm
I can't believe that I am even typing this. I have been so scared to do WLS that I would die but after seeing so many success stories, plus reading all the nightmare stories I could I want to do this. Let me tell you a bit more about my situation since the last post was in 2007. I had a son in 2008 and weighed in at 313 when I gave birth. OMG I was over 300 lbs I wanted to die. I had him and lost weight going to weight watchers and working out. I got down to 240 within 8 months. I joined a new gym with a friend and started going to classes. I watched the scale go up and it is back up to 277 as of this AM. I am at a loss as to what to do. I have been told by a trainer recently I do to much cardio and need to do more weights. Here is what a week would look like.
Mon Intense it is a intense cardio class with weights at the end
Tues Kickboxing followed by body pump a weight lifting class
Wed spin
Thur same as Tues
Fri Spin
Sat same as Tues
Sun long run day

I ran a 1/2 marathon 13.1 miles in February at 255 lbs. I stopped going to the gym after that I really think those 4-5 months training for the marathon burned me out. The weight just started coming back on. I started back at the gym but the scale isn't going anywhere it is just annoying the hell out of me.

My Dr. doesn't think I should have gastric bypass she thinks I should see a nutritionist and see if my working out needs a food plan...obiously! So I know the surgeon I want to use and I have found out that my insurance company covers it if my BMI is above 40 with no other problems. I need to have high BP diabetes etc if my BMI is only above 31 but since it is over 40 sadly it is at 51 I qualifiy.

I hope to be a active participant here and cheering you all on and learning more about this surgery.

I am currently about 295...don't have a scale...but I am ready to start looking into this seriously. I have had 2 friends have RNY surgery and they are doing great. I am tired of being tired, not being able to play with my girls like I want to and I don't want to be the fat mom.
I hope to share my journey with you all here and learn from you.
Thanks for having me!
