Surgeon Testimonial

Subhashini Ayloo MD
I met with Dr. Ayloo once. She is awesome. I was very impressed with her. There is a long wait at her office, and I realized why once I got to see her. She takes her time with everyone and even when I was rushing through my consult with her so that I didn't keep her too long, SHE slowed me down and said, "I can only help one patient at a time." Loved that. She also said she was going to get me up out of bed on the day after surgery and make me walk the halls. She borderlined threatened me! I loved that! I think she's going to be great and I'm very happy thus far.

Second Day of Liquid Diet
on May 19, 2008 6:30 pm
And I want to shoot myself.  This is effing horrible.  I know, I know, it could be worse-- and it has been.  But this is very difficult.  I'm actually a bit nauseous from not eating and drinking nothing but liquids.  Feeling a little lethargic, too.  Oy.  Oh well, you've always got to go through the hard stuff to get to the good.  Here's hoping this part flies by!

GOT A SURGERY DATE!! WOO HOO!!
on April 25, 2008 2:06 pm

My surgery is currently scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2008!  I am overjoyed that I got the insurance approval and that a date is finally set.  I am extremely nervous and scared as well.

I am halfway through the pre-op tests.  Had an endoscopy yesterday with no sedative and no anesthesia.  I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!  Please make sure that if you have to get it done, that they know way up front that you have sleep apnea so that they get you an anesthesiologist.  I'm still a little pissed about yesterday.  Oh well, that's how it goes sometimes.

So, I'm busy getting my ducks in a row before the surgery.  I can't wait until this is over!!

Peace and hair grease, y'all.

I Got Approved!!
on March 20, 2008 8:22 am
I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!  I finally got the insurance approval after almost 3 years!!  I cried so hard my family thought something had happened to me.  I really just can't believe it.  I might get a new body and a new life.  Well that's just freaking awesome.

I'm excited about all of it.  I've been in more pain recently in my knees and back.  Plus I haven't been able to use my C-Pap as much because I have some horrible hacking cough from my blood pressure medication that makes me dry heave and eventually,  .  Not cool at all.

Trying to schedule the surgery for mid- to late- May.  A little nervous, but happy.  Now, on to the pre-op tests!!

Best wishes to all.

Why are there so many food commercials on TV?
on June 11, 2007 8:21 pm
You know, for most of the day, I'm totally fine until I see a food commercial for a new fast food that looks really good.  For months, it has been the White Castle chicken rings that I have kept seeing over and over again.  So today, I got a small order of them because I was hungry and had been dying to taste them.  And you know what?  They were terrible!!

As I get closer to having this surgery (pending insurance approval, of course), I am starting to notice how disappointing a lot of food is.  I had been shoveling it down my gullet for so many years, that I'm not sure I tasted a lot of it.  And now that I am starting to do that, I am noticing that a lot of food doesn't really taste that good!  I am hoping that this wil help me along my journey to realize that I don't have to eat everything.  Really, I don't.  And most of it will be terribly disappointing anyway.  So, instead of eating everything and anything, I'm learning to save the calories and be more selective of what I put in my body.  God knows this isn't an easy transition, but this must be done.

P.S.: For anyone looking for some good fiction on WLS and weight loss in general, read "Conversations with the Fat Girl" by Liza Palmer.  I couldn't put it down!  It was great.

All for now.
