I'm guessing by "My Story", what you're really asking is how the heck did you get to this point? I'm sure most of our stories would look fairly similar, or at least could be put into categories. For me, though;
2. use of food as a coping mechanism
I can just hear Jeff Foxworthy in my head.." if you think Ben & Jerry's comes in a single serving containers, you may have food issues"
3. poor self-esteem
If only I had a dollar for every time I heard " you are such a pretty girl, if only you'd lose some weight!"
4. skewed body image * see above comment...if only they'd specified 10 to 15 pounds.
5. I LIKE food, it tastes good. Exercise..not so much.
6. a bazillion million more...BUT
I'm more excited about the next chapters in my life. So here is a transition story;
" And so, at 37 yrs old, the married mother of 2 decided that her time was running out. She could feel the specter of her obesity looming over her, sucking out the life in her, promising visits from other ghosts with frightening names like "Diabetes, Heart Disease, and Cancer!" Miggy no longer had time to find "the right way", a trail whose path she would travel frequently but always wound up getting lost, or coming up against some obstacle which hindered her progress to the Land of Healthy where Obesity and his ghoulish friends could not go. She came upon a sign that said "the easy way". As Miggy stood debating whether or not to take this path, a wise woman came out of the woods and spoke to her. "Do not be misled by this sign, it was put there by people who have not actually traveled it's path but only named it. This path is a "different way". It is fraught with danger, and obstacles too, but it can lead you to the place you seek if you stay the course." Miggy walked a little ways down the path, only to find a precipice, steep and scary. She walked back to the woman and asked " How am I supposed to get down that?"
The wise woman smiled kindly and replied, " With a leap of faith my dear." Miggy went back to the precipice, studied it awhile, then debated awhile. Finally, she closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and jumped."
....and that's My Story.
