Hello!
on October 11, 2010 7:42 pm
Hi everyone!

I have been a member on here for awhile but haven't really done anything with it. Well I am now! LOL

I had gastric bypass on September 21st, 2009 and it's the best thing I could have done. The first year I did struggle a little bit medically, but I am doing much better now. The worst thing was the kidney stones, and those are gone. YAY! I never want another one EVER!!

I got married on August 13th, 2010 and it was awesome! Some of my family hardly recognized me, except that I was the one in the white dress. LOL It was an awesome feeling. I did post a couple pictures from the wedding in the photo album "Progress Pictures." I also made a collage recently of before and after pictures. I won't make another one until I reach my goal weight, which is 140. I have just under 50 pounds to go, which is nothing for me since I've already lost nearly 150 pounds!! I still can't believe it some days.

I don't have much else to say right now but I wanted to post a blog! I hope everyone is doing well!!

My Story

Hello! My name is Beth and I hail from WI. Weight is something I struggled with most of life. I was able to lose weight, but then I'd gain it back. Then in 2006 I discovered www.sparkpeople.com and I lost 53 pounds in 8 months. But unfortunately I went back to my bad habits once life got stressful and gained it back and then some. I always went back to Sparkpeople, but I never did as well as I did the first time. However, it did teach me about nutrition and exercise, information that would help me when I had my surgery. So anyway, then I got a full-time office job and I ballooned to my heaviest weight: 332. I got health insurance and went to see a doctor about several things including my weight. He suggested gastric bypass, and at first I said no, but he asked me to think about it. So I did and thought, what have I got to lose, besides my weight? So I had it done on September 21st, 2009 and I have to say it's the best thing I ever could have done for myself! I have gone (currently) from 332 to 183 and I feel sooooo much better about myself now. My eating habits have vastly improved and I aim to do cardio at least 5 days a week, I usually do Zumba, and I weight train 2 days a week, including taking a sculpting class. I am now working on become a certified personal trainer and a Zumba instructor so I can help others who have struggled like me. I have also started a health blog healthblogofaformerfatgirl.blogspot.com/ if anyone is interested!
